Order for transfer & faction change?

If I’m going to do both a server transfer and faction change, is there any reason to do them in a particular order? It looks like there aren’t cooldowns that will prevent doing them one right after the other in either order.

So far I’ve only come up with one other reason: reserving a name. If I’m reading it right, doing the faction change includes a name change and then the old name is reserved for 30 days. But server transfer doesn’t say anything about reserving the name after the character leaves the server. If that’s all correct, then I should do the faction change with name change first to keep the name reserved on the old server.

Am I missing any other issues or things I should think about?

So long as you’re not transferring to another account, just a server transfer and faction change will not initiate a cooldown. Those two services used to be that you could purchase them at the same time, but with the tokens, they had to discontinue that offering. It’s not going to penalize folks now that they have to do them in two separate transactions.

As for the name change - you can kind of finagle it to get it included with the server transfer? Just roll an alt on the destination server with the name of your transferring character. Log into that new alt for good measure, just to make sure the server logs it as a “taken” name. Then transfer your character over, and it’ll flag your transfer for a new name. That is if you choose not to go the route of the faction change as well.

But yes, it is included with the faction change.

I’m definitely doing a faction change. I haven’t decided about a name change because I haven’t decided what race/gender. So if I don’t do the name change I guess I just have to cross my fingers and start trying to claim the name on the old server as soon I can. Thanks for the info!
