Options to the Void Elf "Entropic Embrace" racial effects

This is not what this thread is about. Stop trying to turn it around.

This thread is definitely about a continued push to turn void elves into high elves. And rather than keep it in the high elf thread, or one of the many threads already asking for something similar…:man_shrugging:

It is nothing to do with pushing Void Elves into High Elves.

This thread is about turning off the void elf racial, to make them less voidy. So they look more high elfy.

You’re right. You better tell Blizzard to not give the Void Elves then the Blood Elven customisations too. :woman_facepalming:

But seriously, it is not about turning off the effect of a racial, or replacing the racial, it is about having an option to disable the effect of the Void Elf racial when it procs.

Yes. So that you look more like a high elf. Its about how many different ways we can have the “option” to not look like a void elf anymore.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he will ask for a glass of milk.

Who wouldn’t want a glass of milk with their cookie?

It’s like that old have your cake and eat it saying… Err yea, what else are you going to do with a cake. I don’t buy/bake cakes to use as decoration…

That’s just silly to expect someone to not eat their pastries and its also silly to not want a nice refreshing, wholesome dairy drink to wash those pastries down with…

Unless you’re lactose intolerant. But there are plenty of non-lactose options. I like a good almond milk myself.

…what were we talking about?

I dislike making assumptions, but I also dislike when people formulate a guise for their actual intents. Despite your attempts of deflection, it is highly suspect that your inclusion of a “darker option” was not a means to mask the purpose of furthering the Void Elf = High elf narrative.

Many individuals in this thread claim, “why are some individuals against more customization.” I frankly find it amusing when these posts come from players not posting on Blood Elf mains.

Why?

Those individuals who main Blood Elfs should be allowed to have some pride in their racial identity. Rationally or irrationally, more and more changes of Void Elves can be interpreted as a weakening of that identity.

It’s important to acknowledge Void Elf players’ voices on the matter, but people should not be so quick as to completely disregard the voices of others.

but you can have pride in your blood elf racial identity. Being traitors of the Alliance. And high elves can have their pride. Staying loyal to their brothers and sisters in blue. As for the blueberry blood elves. They are not gonna disappear from existence. The fear mongering is actually crazy.

The ooc faction loyalty thing… is still very strange to me.

You know nothing is interupting the identity of the Blood Elves. Because Blood Elves are only unique to the Horde. They’re not unique to the every single race we see in the game.

But they are meant to be unique to both factions, as is every other race. This is the first time other than Pandaren being neutral that we’ve had such a direct carbon copy of one race be put on the Alliance, and just like Pandaren, blood elves are now going to suffer because of it.

This is just another thread aiming to hide what void elves actually are. You can hide behind “well this is an option” comment all you want, but the reality is that you’re not the only person who has made this thread. This is the 4th thread I’ve seen on the subject within 2 days, and it’s silly how this has been done.

Blizzard should take back the pale skin tones to preserve the identity of both void and blood elves because all this does is blur the faction lines even more.

(Commentary): Unit Exacitor feels an example might help expel concerns, especially if it can be a touch humorous.

Frantic Gnome: Umbric! Horrible news! They’re turning your entire race into High Elves!
Umbric: What? That’s terrible! What are they doing?!
Frantic Gnome: They’re giving you Blood Elf skin tones!
Umbric: You mean we’re losing our beautiful blue skin?!
Frantic Gnome: Well… no, you still have that.
Umbric: Then… how are they turning us into High Elves?
Frantic Gnome: They’re trying to take away your tentacle hair!
Umbric: WHAT?! No! I love my tentacles! Shaving has never been easier! I won’t have my tentacles anymore?
Frantic Gnome: Well, actually… yeah, you’re not losing the hairstyles, but they want hair styles WITHOUT tentacles!
Umbric: Well… there are worse thing. A few Void Elves have hair without tentacles and they seem to get along.
Frantic Gnome: But they want to make you all blond!
Umbric: WHAT?! Blond hair doesn’t go with our heritage armor at all! They can’t take my blue and purple hair away!
Frantic Gnome: Actually… I mean… you’ll still have that color option, but they’re pushing hard for blond hair!
Umbric: . . . I fail to see how that’s a problem. I love my blue tentacle filled hair, but so what if some people want to be blondes again? Not everyone is ready for the Void.
Frantic Gnome: BUT UMBRIC THEY WANT TO TAKE AWAY YOUR RACIALS!
Umbric: . . . I will personally throw the first person to touch my racials into the deepest, darkest pit of the Void.
Frantic Gnome: Exactly! We have to fight this menace! Imagine, Entropic Embrace without the glow. The nerve! Taking the void out of Void Elves!
Umbric: Wait… They just want to remove the visual? That’s a bit extreme. Alleria’s is certainly superior, but fixing Entropic Embrace would be best, and what we have now is better than nothing.
Frantic Gnome: Well… actually… they just want the ability to toggle it off.
Umbric: . . . So?
Frantic Gnome: THEY’RE TRYING TO TAKE THE VOID OUT OF THE VOID ELVES AND MAKE YOU ALL INTO HIGH ELVES!
Umbric: . . . Little gnome, the Whispers make more sense than you are right now.

So, in otherwords, Blizzard should only listen to those being spiteful, instead of being fair towards everyone.

How is it fair to the blood elves that their racial identity is being compromised? It’s not.

Edit: And your lack of denial involving the point behind this thread tells me I am correct. You do not deserve the ability to hide who void elves truly are. Void elves, pale skin or not, will turn purple in combat because it is who they are. It is what they do.

I’m not asking for Void Elf Paladins or for Entropic Embrace to be turned into Arcane Torrent. I am simply asking for for the effect to be an option to be hidden from the racial, not for it to be turned into something else.

Hi Fyrebushe 2.0. See, once again, you’re post, you rather Blizzard listen to spitefulness instead of making it fair for everyone.

I would love the ability to toggle the racial visual effect off.

Every racial in this game has a specific identifying graphical indicator. If I belf you, there’s an arcane circle around me, and a thwap of magic on you. If I pop fireblood, I grow big and red with fiery effects. If I warstomp, there’s a thunk on the ground and people are stunned.

When entropic embrace procs, you will turn purple. It is as it has always been and should always be. No other race gets a racial toggle for their stuff. You’re not gonna either.

You didn’t answer my question. How is it fair blood elf racial identity is hurt? I want a legitimate answer. What makes it okay that blood elf racial identity is hurt?

Based only on your opinion that you think the Blood Elves are being hurt?

We were told directly from the game director that fair skinned, majestic elves is a Horde only thing, and that if people wanted it, they should go to the Horde. That has since changed, and our racial identity is now being hurt.

No other race has gone through this problem. No other race has had to willingly give up something to the other faction for no reason.

If the void elves had gone through something like a model edit or tweaking like the Nightborne did, I wouldn’t even be bothered. But it is the same silhouette and model just being given something of another race’s for free with zero reason being provided.

And it’s not just my opinion. You can read. You’ve seen the forums. Blood elf racial identity being hurt is a large opinion of many people right now. The only people happy about this change are the pro high elf community. No pro void elf or blood elf people I know are pleased about this. You were catered to. Take the gift with a little bit of grace and stop trying to hide who void elves actually are.
