Was leveling an alt today, ended up running the dire maul with the king, pretty sure it’s north, anyways, got to a side boss whom is marked for bonus exp to clear out, so since they were on the way to the end, snagged him.
It’s the drunk dude in Diremaul, and suddenly my characters smashed, for no reason because apparently somehow despite not drinking anything I can magically become smashed, Entire screen gets stupid blurry, character cannot run straight, it’s just stupid.
Can we please just have an option to toggle off this? It’s annoying, I don’t find it amusing at all to suddenly have to spend the entire rest of the dungeon with my characters vision blurry and stumbling around unable to walk straight.
Literally didn’t sober up again until halfway through the last boss fight.
Can we seriously just get an option to toggle this effect off? It’s bad enough that people can also just drop stuff and make everyone around them smashed as well, but at least that one you can right-click off, you can’t do that when the game forces you into a smashed state out of nowhere, for no reason.
TL;DR
Title, I don’t like the drunk effects, especially when the game forces them on you. I want an option to turn it off, visually and in text.

While there are a handful of items that have sobering effects, I don’t think any of them are available at Dire Maul relevant levels…
Has no level requirement.

I also shouldn’t need to be carrying around a stack of sobering effect items on all the different alts I level, just because the game randomly wants to inflict you with being drunk.
You should have to actively choose to drink to be affected by the drunk effect.

Raid fight while drunk make it a boss mechanic thanks.

Make the screen go black while drunk thanks

It’s uncommon enough that I don’t mind it. They could probably update it so the drunk effect is a dodgeable AoE instead of something hitting the tank automatically on that fight though.
I don’t want the drunk effect, I want to be able to turn it off. I don’t like it, I don’t enjoy it, even in the small windows it pops up, it’s infuriating, especially when there’s nothing you can do about it.
I shouldn’t be forced to carry stacks of blackrock coffee or other items on my alts to avoid this garbage.
I especially do not want it while I’m trying to level my tank alt, and even more so when it lasts literally the entire bloody dungeon.

I think if you disable fullscreen glow effects, it gets rid of it.
/console ffxGlow 0
and
/console ffxGlow 1 to turn it back on.

It’s a mechanic of that specific boss, mate.
As far as I’m aware, nothing other than Stormstout Brewery forcibly inebriates you.

Two too many instances of forced drunkenness, and nothing but massive headaches frustrations.
If you want to go get smashed and enjoy the stupid blurry screen and unable to walk straight, go ahead and do it, I just want the option to turn it off.

It’s a mechanic.
That’s tough, pal, innit?
I’ve found halo diving from a tall point immediately turns it off, though.

Have a snickers OP. You shouldn’t be this cranky.
Don’t do that boss next time?

Yep…I always keep an eye on my supply. There’s some coffee in Boralus too that does the same thing. Stacks to 200. Nice stuff, good stuff…necessary stuff.
I think fear mechanics should be a toggle too! My toon has fought crap UNDER THE SEA in the supposedly pitch black depths where the toothy things have light bulbs on their heads, but because this Orc screamed really loud I’m fleeing in a panic?
Yeah… no… that’s a mechanic of that particular boss fight, just like fear mechanics are for others. Get used to it.

No it’s not.
It’s an effect from drinking alchohol effects.
If it was a boss mechanic it should be immediately cleared the moment the boss was dead, but it wasn’t it lasted the entire rest of the dungeon.
Getting forcibly drunk, and having to deal with the blurred screen and inability to walk straight is not the same as a fear effect.

It is a boss mechanic if a boss placed it on you like a mob might place a debuff on you.
Get used to it, and get over yourself.

I recall the ogres in burning crusade Blade’s Edge Mountains used to throw beer at ya and get ya drunk, it was great. I loved those guys.

Such a mechanic (and yes, it’s a mechanic) happens so few and far between that it’s really not worth demanding a toggle option in the menus.

I’m not “Getting over myself” because I don’t like being forcibly set to being smashed for no reason.
It’s not a mechanic, if it was a boss mechanic, like all other boss mechanics, it would clear the moment the boss fight ends.
It doesn’t. The boss just tosses the effect on you because “haha, getting drunk is funny, ogres are dumb drunks, now your drunk too, because reasons.”
It’s stupid, and there should be a toggle option for turning off getting drunk.

Do you use addons?
If so, try Leatrix Plus. It has options to disable the drunken haze, as well as other screen effects like the ghost effect when you die.
