Operation: Mechagon is challenging, especially if you’re barely over the 400 minimum recommended, or if you have melee that like to stand in things. Doing it at 404 with a pal and a PUG? There were wipes, and it did take about three hours to do, but it was fun.
Some of the trash packs are a bit much, but if you utilize CC, it’s great. This whole thread honestly reminds me of of the Wrath -> Cataclysm changeover, where it was “AOE ALL THE THINGS!” to “unless you use your CC, you are going to get your teeth kicked in. Have fun!” Some people liked it, some people hated it; either way you went, the complaining on the forums was there, a reliable source of lulz for your popcorn.
Tangent aside, if you can’t do it with a PUG, get a group of friends/guildmates, try again. Utilize a voice chat. Set up interrupt/cc rotations, or whatever. Stop standing in things. Get a tank that doesn’t crumple like a house of wet toilet paper tubes at the first sign of a gnome breathing in their direction. Realize it’s not actually a race. You’ll get there eventually.
To be clear, I do +10s and prior to 8.2 I did Heroic Raids. I’m not part of the crowd that was so annoyed by the prospect of a timer that I avoided dungeon content altogether.
I don’t feel that criticizing the tuning of a piece of content vs the rewards it provides is somehow casuals whining about getting what they wanted. Fact is, Mechagon is either overtuned or it’s rewards aren’t high enough.
They do something very similar with raids. Some people refuse to do anything but LFR to see the content. If you choose not to do the content when it is hard, you just have to wait until they split it into 2 wings and release heroic like they did Kara in Legion.
It’s also the first week of the dungeon on live. To ask for everything to be doable by everyone on the first week would make this game too much of a snoozefest. Blizzard will never be able to please everyone.
If this dungeon follows suit like Kara did, then it will get adjusted in the future and added to the Mythic+ key rotation and split in two. Hell it’ll probably even have a heroic difficulty as well. For now it’s hard for the sake of it feeling like a challenge.
This dungeon is amazing and is tuned perfectly. Reminds me of BC heroics where every trash pack/boss was a battle for survival. At the end you feel accomplished and better at playing your class. I understand not all players enjoy challenging content (thats why 90% of this game is now a complete joke) but that doesnt mean it needs to be nerfed. There is plenty of other content that is a complete faceroll that awards the same ilvl or greater (benthic gear, emissaries, N raiding). If you want to experience this dungeon on an easier difficulty, please wait for heroic. Just leave this beautiful jewel of a dungeon alone.
but I presume this is done purposefully. There is no m+ version as of yet, and people are only going to get better gear from here on out. There is also the fact that these 8 boss dungeons are meant to be harder, and many aren’t quite accustomed to the new layout.
For now, if not absolutely critical, wait it out a few weeks and save yourself thousands in repairs.
I agree with op on the point there should be heroic difficulty. Don’t have a problem with mythic dungeons being difficult but its pretty crappy to release new content and lock it behind mythic only. After the backlash of the mythic only Kara dungeon would think they would have went ahead and added this.
Guess when 8.3 comes out and its no longer new or relevant they might add a heroic version. Then it can be the dungeon nobody wants to catch in the random queues because the loot is obsolete by that time and nobody cares about the quest or the recipes it drops.
I don’t have a problem with heroic as long as the rewards fit. But pople enjoy challenging content. This is new and i’ve only gotten around to doing the first 4.
I don’t see what is wrong with having difficult things for people to work towards. It hasn’t even been out a week yet and people are complaining they can’t do it?
In wotlk I only did the one boss dragon raid that I can’t remember the name of because I wasn’t good enough to do the others. Didn’t stop me from thinking icc was super cool. It made me want to play more and get better at the game so I could so it.
If there was an easy version people would do it then complain there is nothing to do. There are plenty of things blizzard had done that I disagree with but this isn’t one of them.
If you can’t do it yet that’s ok.
Wait.
Gear up.
Get better at your class.
Take this as an opportunity to have some charactor progression again.
The complaint is there is no heroic mode which uses the LFG finding tool.
This is a slap in the face to paying customers. We pay our fee and demand a properly tuned option.
If people want to slam their head against a “mythic zero” that is tuned like a mythic +15 for low quality gear-that is their business. I have no complaints about that.
But for Blizzard to try to force this overtuned nonsense on the players is not acceptable.
There has been speculation that Blizzard will add in a heroic mode at some later point.
This is speculation.
Believe me, unless the masses rise up and follow me in my protests they will not do this. They will continue to try to force this nonsense on us unless we stand strong against this ridiculous tuning!!!
So stand strong and speak out my friends and supporters!
I think it is a good thing to have content that is hard to clear day 1 of a new patch. I like there being done challenge and sense of charactor progression and achievement when I complete something.
Maybe we just have different values as players then.
I really don’t understand the mindset that expects instant total mastery of any content right out of the gates, let alone mastery of content that’s intended to sit on the more difficult end of the spectrum.
I actually frequently avoid that phrase. I honestly don’t understand the significance of it and why it triggers so many people.
Actually, this forum is kind of like talking to the manager.
And yes, that is very effective. Almost never does a week go by where I do not talk to the manager at Wal Mart. And I have a lot of run ins with oil changes for some reason.
Talking to the people in charge is effective. And letter writing, that soon to be lost art, also works very well. Usually just a threat to a manager of writing to the C.E.O. is enough to get results. And I often get letters back, like when I heard from the C.E.O. of IHOP and even got soe free pancakes as a result of a major issue I brought to their attention!
While I agree that Rastlin is trolling and trolling hard, I do find myself agreeing that the place feels severely overtuned. (And if he’s being serious when he’s posting like that, I have concerns)
Going in with a team of competent players of around 400-410 itemlevel, we got down three bosses in about as many hours. The sheer amount of damage pouring out even when we don’t mess up on mechanics simply gets overwhelming (I’ll admit, there were attempts where I was a split second too late getting to a smoke cloud to dodge the Megataze, for example). Though I will note that Gobbamak and Gunker went down quickly, so most of that time was spent struggling with Trixie and Naeno and beating our faces against the Aerial Oppressor.
Now, I do regular Mythics with some frequency, but I’ve personally never stepped into anything higher than a +2. The place is a +0 with loot like a +3… but (according to several friends of mine who DO go into M+'s regularly) hits about on par with a +8. Yes, being able to get upgrades from what we DO kill is nice, but compared to content we’ve had over the last few years, there’s a bit of a discrepancy between effort and reward here.
