Raszageth is the Knight Templar Idealist, Fyrakk is the Vengeful Brute, Vyranoth is the Scheming Chessmaster(who seems to be the mastermind of the plan involving the Dracthyr releasing Void-spawned Horrors from Aberrus) and Iridikron is the Opportunist(who has his own plans beyond Vyranoth’s Void schemes). Each one in that order is more problematic than the last.
The fact that Vyranoth’s dialogue suggests that she is the one with the plan involving the Void in Aberrus while Iridikron has his own plans separate from hers is very interesting as it means that Nozdormu’s speech on Iridikron makes him a wildcard even in regards to the Void.
Raszageth and Fyrakk in the end are the most sympathetic of the Primal Incarnates with the latter being the most easy for the remaining two to manipulate. Said other two are villains to the core with one underestimating just how far the other would go for his personal gratification.
Chessmasters are ill-prepared for Spanners in the Works while Opportunists(who are usually said Spanners in the Works themselves) lack long-term vision. Only the Speed-Chessmasters are capable of long-term planning while also being prepared for Spanners in the Works.
This seems like a pretty calculated sacrifice play of Fyrakk. Iridikron knew not to underestimate the adventurers. He seemed to get that any one of them on their own was no match for us.
“Oh hey, Fyrakk Ol’ boy. Shinny on down into that one way pit and see about that flame for us. There’s a good lad”. The question is where are the other two off to while this obvious distraction plays out.
I mean, I don’t blame them. Fyrakk seems to have room temperature IQ but still kind of cold.
Oh well. He got to live my dream of murdering one of the centaur before it could finish saying whatever boring nonsense it had on its mind. Was probably about to tell him to get some rest or something.

Anyone who played the 10.1 PTR knows that Fyrakk lives and becomes the centerpiece of the Fyrakk Assaults.
Vyranoth isn’t sacrificing him but instead manipulating him into Void Corruption while she and Iridikron discuss her real plan for Aberrus.
Iridikron is sacrificing Fyrakk’s allegiance to the cause to Vyranoth’s Void schemes to move his own plans along.
Iridikron is so dedicated to his plans that he would arrange for his only ally to genuinely defect to the mole in his ranks’ faction just so that said plans would succeed.
Fryakk is very much a blunt instrument that the others just sort of point and let him incinerate. He does not seem to care too much what he roasts, so long as he gets to. He matches the personality I would give a draconic incarnation of fire pretty well, honestly.
Vyranoth is, well… cold as the ice she embodies; her aloofness makes for a good calculating villain. Irikikron is unyielding as the earth, and that is reflected in the fact apparently will do anything to achieve victory for himself.

Why that random centaur kinda fine though

Raszageth is erratic like the Air. Does something then leaves off finishing it to her own detriment. It’s what got her killed in the end.
remeber when cinematics used to be used as cool climatic events instead of more wait and see. None of this is very interesting to me as its just boring exposition just like the ones in BFA.
I have seen plenty of people excited about it, so I dunno what to tell you. We do just overall get… more cinematics in general than we did in the past. I do not see how that’s a bad thing.

that is fine but these just seem like one and done for me, they are just exposition for bad guys that have no background so we don’t care about them.
Old cinematics use to give me chills and get me pumped and i would watch them multiple times. These just seem dull and are just plot points.
They sort of… killed all their villains aside for Azshara I guess. Even Sargeras is stuck in his naughty Titan time out chair. They need time and exposition to build up new villains within the game; the old ones were established largely through the RTS games. Not doing exposition is how we get a Zovaal. I do not think anyone wants another Zovaal.
I do get that some people are just… not in love with the game as it is anymore, though.

Killed all their villains and forgot to do the groundwork and narrative DEPTH over TWENTY YEARS to ferment new villains*

Forgot to do the groundwork and narrative depth for even the Black Goat which has only 2 references though that’s only if it doesn’t turn out to be Y’Shaarj.
If Y’Shaarj turns out to be the Black Goat and a Villain in Dragonflight then I expect them to feed him to Iridikron just to hype him for the very next Raid Encounter in the exact same Raid they killed him off in.
Although if the Drowned God is released at the same time then we have a new Villain hyped to say the least.

I agree they should of been planning years ago… but we know that they didn’t see a point in it before—they previously designed expansions to be almost entirely modular and everything in them to be throw away. Not to mention they had so many cooks in the kitchen who didnt want to work to make a good pot of soup together that often we ended up with a mess instead.
Dragonflight is their first one under their new philosophy of trying to actually tell a multi expansion arc, so we will have to see how it goes. For now, the Incarnates have been fairly decent writing for Blizzard, given this time last year we were in 10.1 staring at Korthia and wondering how it all went so terribly wrong.

Am I the only one that felt….refreshing…when the centaur dude was killed?
Felt weirdly good to have at last some darker overtones in the story.
For all their exposure, the villains of DF didn’t feel as engaging as the ones we had in other expansions.

i knew he was dead the second he saw the dragons tbh.

Am I the only one who kind of hopes that Iridikron pulls out a win of some sort for this expansion and goes on to become a recurring villain for later xpacs? Or at least survives it to do the same?
The dude’s design is so frickin’ cool that it just seems a waste for him to be in just one expansion before dying.

More likely it will be Vyranoth(I.E. the one who knows what is going on with Aberrus and seems to be the mastermind of the “Dracthyr release what’s in there” plan) who survives though not without Iridikron derailing the Void Entity she is awakening’s own plan by eating said Void Entity.
If the Void Entity turns out to be Y’Shaarj(suggested by the fact that Sarkareth’s arena resembles the description of where the Black Goat with 7 Eyes is located: an Icy Black Pool) and Iridikron takes the Final Battle to the Void itself then Iridikron will have demonstrated his worthiness to have his design by taking the most powerful of the Azerothian Old Gods down with him permanently.
Eating a ressurected Y’Shaarj would put him into the position of being Too Cool To Live to say the least.
Vyranoth arranging for the release of Y’Shaarj and the Drowned God then being rescued by Azshara when we defeat her in the following Raid would be a welcome story since we are in dire need of Villains that have been properly set up right now.

I understand why you put this, but I disagree in terms of overall feel.
Yes, there is some sort of macguffin awaiting in Aberreus, but in fairness, Iridikron & co have only been free since the end of the last patch, and we know what they’re trying to do. There really hasn’t been much time for them to tell us what they’re trying to find.
We knew exactly what Raz was seeking - at least by the time of the end of the first raid. She wanted to release her siblings. We kind of knew beforehand, but whatever.
Importantly, we’ve also known what their motivations are - something very lacking in Shadowlands. The Incarnates been imprisoned and feel wronged by the Aspects and the Titans. We know their backstory (mostly) - though there is still some vagueness to the deals Iridikron has made. We also know the Djaradin want their Elders released.
We may not know exactly what the macguffin is - beyond something powering Aberreus (likely void-related) - but we do know they want to release it in the hopes of causing the Dracthyr to hurt the Aspects (and their armies). They mentioned in the previous cutscene that the forces behind the Aspects were too powerful for them to confront yet.
They want to destroy the Aspects and the Titan-modified world. They plan on using a macguffin to cause the Dracthyr to help them in their goals. They’re releasing the Djaradin Elders. We know a lot more now than we did in Shadowlands (both just in calendar months and in patches).
I can live without knowing exactly what the macguffin is and/or what deals Iridikron made.
That’s kinda how he presented the situation to Fyrakk, they can’t achieve revenge until they get the advantage. Sowing chaos against the Aspects while giving destructive power to Fyrakk and bringing the Djaradin to their side can be a good move.
…unless Iridikron releases a Void Lord or awakens an Old God. That could probably ruin his plots. ![ ](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/thinking.png?v=12)
