open world ilvl is bad. ok, raiders and mystic plus and pvp dont want open world to stomp on them. i get it, makes sense
so make the open world gear scale up in open world and solo content. like right now, if u wnated to do solo torghast, u have to raid or m+ or pvp since open world only goes to 252 and doesnt scale
so if open world gear scaled up to mystic raid ilvl in stuff that’s non-raid, non-mystic+, non-pvp, that good and open world wont invadieate raid, pvp, mystic+
Probably both. Good way to start another fire between the “you don’t deserve/need it” group and casual player groups. It all gives a new meaning to class & tier in the game. Goes against the concept of equity that Blizzard is saying they want to bring into the game too. We cannot have preferential treatment as far as game content and the players after all.
I always believe that beating your game mode should best equip you for that game mode, so sure. M+ gear scales up 13 in m+, raid gear scales up 13 in raid, pvp 13 in pvp and war mode, world quest gear scales up 59 in the open world (that’s how bad it is right now - 252 vs 311)
open world gear is very powerful, and more than capable of dealing with any of the content you need to do…no dangerous outdoor areas exist in modern wow anymore!
you can get raid quality gear from just doing world quests…i think that’s more than enough for what’s required from a person that wants to play bejeweled and click on bear cubs in liue of dungeons or raids.
To me, this feels hyperbolic. Yes, there are quests that don’t require combat, but lots of players enjoy going against the rare elites (often solo because zenith mortis is dead) and lots of world quests still require combat.
As someone with 300 ilvl characters and 250 ilvl characters, the difference is simply too much. If getting carried through a valor key can get you a 278 every week, so can questing.
Sure, you can walk to work, but it’s going to feel terrible when everyone speeds by you in their mazda.
i mean there’s no effort involved in doing world quests really…so to obtain raid quality gear from playing bejeweled is more than fair…
and if you want the better quality stuff, do the next level up, like everyone else imo. LFR players even understand that, so i don’t think that’s asking too much, or too “elitist” or anything.
and i’ve cleared ZM in greens and blues before, so i think the 252 gear is going to be extremely powerful. i have a set myself, so i can always test it to see
To clarify, I don’t believe that the reward should be raid quality gear. It should still be 252 in the raids. But in the open world, people should feel like it’s worth their time if they enjoy that content. It makes me sad to explain to my sister that she can either farm cyphers on each character for days to get 252, or do a quick 15 with me and get a guaranteed 304. All she wants to do is quest.
Thing is, there is really no “next level up” for those not interested in group content, yet when someone suggests things like Torghat being a path for gear/harder content for solo players, some pull the “solo players don’t want difficult content” ard.
i understand that, but i don’t think ilvl matters too much when you’re literally doing things like bejeweled, or cilcking on bear cubs…
open world play is very different from instanced gameplay - stats like speed and detection matter more in an open world environment…you don’t really need super high end breakpoints in your gear because the content doesn’t require you to min/max.
i think ilvl is being treated like a status thing by lots of these players, when it’s unnecessary imo.
at a glance - here’s some of the world quests available today in the new zone - hexagonal nectar (which can be completed without fighting a single mob, fishing up souldrinkers, and solving a puzzle for a cache)…
if there’s one thing i think would suit open world players best - would be very useful set bonuses like we saw in earlier patches (Hearthstone cooldowns, movement speed, bonus to gold/xp, dmg/healing when outdoors), etc.
Open world players also have access to some of the best trinkets in the game (those mission table trinkets, while scaled down in ilvl, are very potent…better than some of the dungeon loot).
There was a time when open world was for leveling, leading to dungeons for pre-raid gearing, and on to raiding. And nobody complained.
M+ made it so that those who don’t like raiding can not only get better gear, but gear that’s even better! They broke the chain and its caused a sense of unfairness among the players.
With PVP, things are even worse because now the only people who “seem” to get shafted are the solo players like myself. I happen to be fine with it, under the “I don’t need anything more” argument. But a lot of people don’t understand that what we have now isn’t the way it used to be, or SHOULD be, if you ask certain people.
I can only see a few alternative. Revert everything, which isn’t going to happen, make M+ gear work only while in M+ content, raid gear only work in raids, pvp gear only work in pvp situations, and give solo pve players specific pve gear that only works in pve areas. NONE of which is going to happen.
That said, there’s only one solution left. Stop complaining and do the best you can. I do just fine, and I’m quite happy with a 256 ilevel. Besides, it’ll all be garbage soon, so who cares? Just do your thing and have fun.
but but but…“muh hatez scalin” lol.
They already complain they dont feel like theyre ‘progressing’ and feel weak because of scaling. (while theyre also talking out the other mouth corner about how easy the game is and needs to be harder, mind you).
Making the world scale all the way up thru mythic sounds good to me. but then, I love scaling.
You aint gonna get this to pass thru the masses who say they want the game to be harder, but then refuse to pass on that god gear because deep down they want it keep getting stronger than everything so they can one shot it.
yes u cant progress in torghast without gear, so ur stuck at bad ilvl if u gear open world and r forced to do mystic+/raids/vpp to progress in torghast, its so bad
I don’t give a hootin’hanny what m+ or raiders want anymore. Used to try and see the fair side, but screw it. I’ll take the same gear in solo casual. They can just skip the leveling entirely and open world players get the same gear eventually.
The real problem is Blizzard came out with a new Season, but didn’t bother to give an upgrade to open world quest loot.
Open world quest loot absolutely should be worse than raid or mythic+ loot. That’s appropriate.
But at the same time, when a new Season starts, the max ilevel for ALL sources of loot should go up. Blizzard did this for mythic+, raid and pvp loot… but they forgot open world loot.
Result is open world loot is stuck at 252. Casual players are left with no way to upgrade their character’s gear. Huge oversight on Blizzard’s part.
What Blizzard should have done is added new open world loot, or a new rep to increase the ilevel of existing open world loot. That way casual players wouldn’t feel completely left out.
