It’s only recently that this became a problem, exasperated by the Current world crisis, and now further exasperated by people desperately trying to keep themselves logged in since early morning to try make sure they can be online for raid. The servers that were near capacity should have had transfers and the ability to create new characters closed before this even became a problem.
Arugal has recently had an influx of people from Yojamba and Felstriker who have finished their ranking grinds on the lower pop servers and now want to be on the ‘big’ realm. Now we’ve got 2 hour queues 2 hours before prime time. Now transfers are closed far to late to prevent a problem that might not have even existed.

Layer it up. Solves the queues and will raise supply of lotus, win win.

Yes please, I just want to be able to play with my friends without having to log in hours early and prevent afk which just makes the issue worse, or wait in queue for 5hrs. Closing xfers to full realms too if that’s not already been done.

Please add layers! Thanks so much!

The original WoW Collectors Edition box said “Even if you have a few minutes to play!” - Not with a 6 hour queue

Just boost server cap and bring in layering, the economy of the game was already ruined by having it in the first place, so it won’t make a difference. I’d rather play in a layered game than not be able to play since by the time I get home from work, the queue lasts until I can’t play anymore… so I literally cannot play a game I’m subscribed to.
@kaivax can you please do something about this sooner than later? The solution seems obvious.
Put some dc protection algorithm or something. People who logged in early and got randomly dc’d only to be Q’d again is just mess up.
If a person DC, put him in top bracket (top 100 or 200 position in Q) if XX mins passed by and has not logged back in yet, bump them to top 500-800 Q) if XX mins passed by again and has not showed up, bump him to the start of the Q
Getting pissed of being kicked an hour before raid time and missing the raid entirely
inb4 you can log back in immediately and get no queue - well its a hit or miss, 50% I was able to log back in with no queue, the other, made me wait 3+ hours in Q
Bring back layers. The average player can’t stay logged in all day to avoid five hour queues every day.

Having layers for a while is better than being disconnected at 5:00pm and having to miss your 8:00pm raid. 4 hour+ queues is dumb.

I’m not too fussed. Queues and layers don’t really bother me. If it means that people will stop complaining and posting all their positions in queue / Estimated time then do it.
A lot of people are asking for increased server capacity. I personally don’t think that would work permanently (for a multiple of reasons), but maybe temporarily?
Yes Give us layering back, if it stops these Queues, Im still working and i get home and theres already a 5 hour Queue.
Im not going to change realms as i have a great guild and friends.
Atm it is impossible to Raid, ZG is out tommorrow and we have no chance of doing it as no one can get on at the same time.
Also people complaining about Black lotus’s, they are already impossible to get as Bots have them on farm, at least having layers would put more on the market.
Also shout out to my Boi GENSHIN on Arugal
I was going to start a thread on this, but i might as well say it here. Tuesday on our server at pretty much 4:30 the masses gather in Stormwind, we mind contorl and murder an npc so we can drop the Ony buff. Stormwind is unplayably laggy during this time. The last week when i was there incidentally, i couldnt even hearth back to Ironforge to logout right after the buff whent out. I feel the need to point out that there is a significant part of our server that isnt there in stormwind, and dosent care about getting the buff.
So here is the million dollar question, how the heck are servers going to be able to handle the opening of the gates of AQ, if it cant handle the onyxia buff going off on a random tuesday at 4:30? What is the point of being there if it is so laggy and unstable that i cant see or do anything when the gates open. So yes, you all need to take another look at layering for stuff like this.
How about you start by banning the Bots? That will clear up alot of space. The servers are filled with bot groups that farm strat and st. There are even more bots in BGs. Is it really that hard to see that a person enters a bg in stealth and walks to a point or a group runs in a set path to an instance and clears it multiple times a day in on the same path in the same manner with the same times.
As much as i dint enjoy layering. Id rather have that implemented on these servers holding so many more players then what the original it was designed for. Layer will solve the ques for now. And it will get some more herbs into the economy, that should be healthy for the server. At least short term until AQ is about to open. Then it maybe should come up again on how to solve that launch.
Hi Kaivax,
Layering is not a solution that Blizzard should consider. The reason why is that it creates a problem “down-stream”, more players can log on, but the player economy suffers. Currently Blizzard are unable to get a handle on the rampant botting that is occurring in Classic WoW which is already having an extremely negative effect on the player economy. By adding layers back in, this will give botters and players open to layer exploiting further means to disrupt the economy of the game.
Since everybody with an active subscription is a paying customer, should they not be entitled to the service they are paying for? I.E. Am I actually able to receive the good that I am paying for if after finishing work and logging in at 5pm and am met with a 5 hour queue?
Sorry Kaivax, but I think that Blizzard ought to address the capacity issues of their game servers by allocating additional resources to them, and the rampant botting rather before dangling a quick-fix solution in front of players who are desperate to agree to something so they can raid. In my opinion, this is just a short-term band aid response that will negatively affect the player community long-term.

Seems pretty obvious to me, disable transfers to high population servers permanently and introduce layering whilst there is the spike of demand.
It’s unplayable at the moment with a 5 hour queue at 4pm on Arugal.

As much as I hate the idea of layering, I think its going to be a necessary evil for the large servers at the moment. Arugal have 5+ hour queues, we have so many raiders missing out on runs because they didn’t log on before 3pm.
