Open Question: An Alternative to Queues?

Please implement layering. Queues are not fun for anyone.

Absolutely YES
please Layer Whitemane to shorten Queue times
the Queue’s have been a headache for getting 40 guild members online and on time for raids. We have some guild members suspending their accounts and avoiding paying you money until the issue is resolved. The guild has no desire to leave as we have been on the server since day 1 and view it as our home.

YES!

I hope people are only posting who are on one of these servers. Specifically Whitemane, as every time I have checked other servers Whitemane has consistently been the worst. One hour queues don’t compare to what we are experiencing. I’d be fine with a one hour queue.

I never thought I’d want layering again, but these are crazy and unusual times. Having to log in 3, 4, 5, even 6 or more hours before raid has caused several members to quit, and 3/4 of the guild to simply raid log because it’s not worth playing on non raid nights. Those of us who still have to go into work REALLY get the shaft. Raids sometimes have to start late, many guilds on our server have cancelled raids completely
I’ve even heard of people using google remote just to get in the queue.

Another welcome change would be to ALLOW US TO LOG IN TO RETAIL AT THE SAME TIME AS WE ARE IN QUEUE!

Mainly due to the retailers and their alts in this thread. Many with 0 posts until today.

Yes, I would welcome layering to alleviate overpopulation

I am all for it. It would not change my experience at all.

I’d rather see F R E S H servers than break Ion’s promise. The only promise blizz can say they’ve kept
up until now

My server doesn’t have a que but still would like layering back for the time being. Questing, harvesting and farming are so much harder right now since so many people.

Lol riiiiiiight

Yes, I want layering. I am sick of having to log on 4 hours before I want to play, and then being forced to stay on if I want to play later. I also don’t appreciate that if I have some sort of technical problem, I can’t even restart the game/computer for fear of losing my spot.

This would be fine as long as there is some type of control to prevent people from layer hopping to cheat. Maybe only allow changing layers once ever 30 min?

Yes, introducing temporary layering is a great idea.

imagine upgrading the servers and spending money after classic has (what looks like) become the most popular game atm (compared to BFA)

I think you need to take into consideration the people that have already transferred off due to your “fix” earlier. If we knew of this option I guarantee we would have preferred adding an additional layer. You provided a completely sub par, half assed, “fix” for the issue with a free transfer. We took the transfer considering Blizz would not take further action. By adding a layer it would have eliminated the queues with minimal backlash. However, now myself and guild are on a much smaller server when I assume most would want to still be on our larger server with two layers and no queues. Give the people who transferred off the option to come back if layering is added.

Please Blizzard reconsider even thinking about this

Why do you repeatedly wish to sacrifice our gameplay experience, damage our economy and overall throw the integrity of what classic is further out the window
just because you guys, a billion dollar company, refuse to spend extra money and resources on upgrading the game server capacity for a 16 year old game.

Lag in org has been an issue on high pop servers for the entirety of classic, not just during these last few weeks.
I’ve seen firsthand what the damage of layering has done to the economy and have friends who are sitting on hundreds of rare resources like black lotus, which is worth 40-50k gold
Additionally this just gives botters more resources to suck up and dump into the economy with ultimately gets sold for real life gold.

I really hate that you’re here even asking the community what their opinion on this is, The original creators of this game knew what they were doing, and it it wasn’t added then, so it shouldn’t be added now. This is remaster of the original game not a remake. People let their personal opinion of how this change will personally affect them determine their stance on this issue, they aren’t thinking about the broader picture of what classic is and why it’s so great.

At absolute worst i’d probably support slight dynamic respawns on things that are absurdly rare, like black lotus because server population is so much higher than back in the day. Then again, today prices just reflect a shift in raiding meta to using flasks for speed-runs and is pretty natural.

Tldr: stop being a baby.

What about banning the 15-30% of the community that are bots and then see how the queues are afterwords?

10 mins for runthak to walk to give the buff and another 5 mins for it to drop after he has yelled

Layering worked shockingly well, it should definitely be used whenever necessary. Use it to fix the surge, patch a few exploits as you go. Then port the tech to retail!

Faction queues and faction-controlled transfers (surplus to deficit only) are also a great idea. Get more aggressive about faction balance!
