OOC: An open letter to the Grobbulus Horde from [A] <Hurricane>

Honestly I have to say the net impact on my opinion of Hurricane after learning you organized this big raid is a positive one. Hopefully you get in touch with some of the bigger Horde guilds and y’all can brawl it out in the future.

Three full raid groups of 60s aren’t going to be matched. It’s just an enormous number of players. There is an element of fun to it, but it’s more due to shock value and the awe factor vs. any actual achievement. It’s gonna be 15-20 healers and then 100 DPS running around spamming AoE.

If you want large scale PvP with a challenge, do what I remember happening on Mal’Ganis back in the day. Pool gold and offer a prize (1-2k gold is good) for anyone (free to split among guilds obviously if they team up) to the person who can land a killing blow on an identified member of your guild at a designated time. Announce that you will reveal your location at X time (i.e. 3 PM server) via a post on the realm forums and give horde players a window of 1.5-2 hrs to kill your go-to person. Guild on Mal’Ganis posted up D next to Scholomance I remember. Guild’s MT was kill target and they had 50-60 people defend that spot for that timeframe. Might be worth setting something like this up again.

It sucks, raids on capital cities don’t mean much now due to layering, and yet in phase 2, no one will do it, due to DHK.

Can’t wait for top tier raid gear to be readily available so people don’t care much about PvP gearing and just run around without regard racking up hundreds of DHKs in T2.5/T3 gear.

Yes…but those titles are so nice.

I think after farming to a certain level a lot of people will stop. Gear is awesome that it brings but realistically anyone that has a somewhat demanding job, family, friends, etc. has little to no shot at R13-R14. Also since the titles have very little correlation to skill and are almost entirely indicative of an unhealthy amount of time invested in the game past a certain point (i.e. R14) I hope people will disregard at least the last 1-2 to some degree.

That’s a fair point. I’m sure the honor grind will lose its hype once bwl comes out.

I take it back then

I was there during the Hurricane raid. Horde has some big guilds from what I’ve gathered on this server, but they’re not organized in a zerg-like fashion.

That isn’t a slight against Hurricane or whoever else.

Horde loves WPvP too, we just don’t currently have any massive guilds (that I’ve seen at least) who express active interest in forming 100+ man raids against the Alliance for impromptu zergs. It doesn’t help either that layering actively discourages those massive 100+ player vs 100+ player encounters, especially in a city. I actually had to be drawn into your layer to even see it in the first place as I was a latecomer.

As an aside: this happens every Thursday at 5PM server time. It’s not always Orgrimmar, but if any guilds out there would like to organize a formidable defense then you can count on it happening at that time every week.

Either way, kudos to you guys for being able to organize massive PvP like that. I look forward to the Horde being able to match you soon enough.

I admire your attitude.

It’s still done this way among roughly two dozen cross-faction guilds from Emerald Dream that migrated to Grobbulus. Realistically, we don’t even know who the important players are or whether old rivalries are going to continue.

I don’t think any of us have the rosters to field hundred person offensives and I’d be surprised if horde was doing much better. This seems like a pserver phenomenon, I doubt any retail guilds were expecting this as guilds of this magnitude weren’t prominent in vanilla.

See a lot of defensiveness about how hard it is to counter a huge swarm, but the one time I was in IF for an attempted Horde raid there were at least 2 raids up in under 5 minutes, most of them just people who were in general chat. It definitely stands out as one of the times I’ve seen the most people in one place.

Horde just needs to sack up, although maybe your mud huts just aren’t worth defending.

I’m not a fan of big zerg-like guilds but I definitely admire you for this. And I love seeing your members oot and aboot and reading their TRPs!

He is not over here on Grobbulus to my knowledge.

I know, that’s why I was making a joke about it.

Oh my grob don’t summon him! We already have enough dumb zergling guilds that worship their cult leader, we don’t need WSB as well.

Horde dont pvp on this server; its as simple as that. They must have misread the P as an E when they created their character. Horde side is a joke pvp wise on this server.
