OOC: An open letter to the Grobbulus Horde from [A] <Hurricane>

We love you guys. Seriously. Please know that no matter what Hurricane does in character, in the field, in Orgrimmar, or anywhere else, we harbor no ill-will for Horde players. We do not seek to grief or camp you, we don’t seek to lessen your play experience, we don’t seek to talk trash, play to crush, overlog you or run you out of the server or the game. That would be the worst thing we could possibly do.

What we do wish to do is provide an antagonist for you. We want to bring you content in the form of enormous wPvP fights. If you’ve never been in one of these, you’re missing out! In our opinion, wPvP fights are one of the best parts of Classic WoW, which is why we are a wPvP guild first and foremost.

So when we storm into Orgrimmar 120 people deep and spend the next hour there, we’re not doing it to be rude, we’re offering a tasty treat in a very convenient location for any Horde groups that want to fight. We are basically DoorDash, but instead of one extremely high dude in a 2001 Corolla who you think really actually ate one of your tacos… we’re a swath of bloodthirsty privateers in a black ship with sails like the night charging into your city to kill anything that moves.

All we’re looking for is good fights. We’ve looked for those early on in STV via Grom’Gol, via Terran Mill, via The Crossroads, Splintertree Post, and finally, Orgrimmar, but whether it be due to layering, intimidation, or whatever else, we haven’t had anyone truly stand up to us.

We do not want to discourage Horde players, or Horde wPvP. That is absolutely antithetical to our purpose as a guild. What we want to do is encourage the Horde as a whole to rise up. Take up arms. Blow the horn, sound the alarms. Take up your bow, your staff, your shield, AND MY AXE. Band together as a faction and put a stop to our aggression. Do it for Thrall, do it for Sylvanas, do it for your brothers and sisters at arms in the Horde, do it for your guilds, do it for your friends and family.

Fight. This is war.

( But, really, at the end of the day, the best kind of war  )

Sincerely, from the deepest part of my heart and my passion for Classic,

Lieutenant Everline “Ever” Penderlin

Mistress at Arms, Sword Hand of the Hurricane

How is that fun for anyone involved, for both offense and defense?

Goonswarming is fine and all but…like, I don’t blame anyone for refusing to participate in that.

Well if they ever try to raid the forums, we know who’ll be first in line to defend the gates!

So you have 120 people in Orgrimmar. Most (many) of whom are 60. None of that reads as actually looking for a “good fight”.

If you’re calling for war, thats great! Call out the Horde guild that has 120 people, most (many) of whom are 60, because 120 randos won’t have the communication that y’all do.

If you’re looking for actual fights, roam in small groups in the Plaguelands, or Burning Steppes, or Winterspring, or…

All 120vs120 turns into is an AoE fest, and as a melee, it is usually not fun.

Edit: Side note: I never run from PvP, and I’m flagged since day one.

Picking off stragglers is fun. There are always a couple who stray too far from the herd.

I think the reason why an Alliance raid of 120 stay at home mothers isn’t able to pvp with a Horde raid of 120 stay at home mothers is because blood elves don’t exist in classic.

lol nobody cares about your zerg bro

Also, this type of raid means literally nothing while layering is active.

The numbers are just too big. Send in 25 and see if Horde fight back. There’s no Horde zerg guilds whereas there’s like 3 Alliance zerg guilds.

I didn’t spend months training green recruits to do large scale pvp with scheduled event after event, just to strip my guild down to 8 mans. As for zerg guild, if you saw the level of organization we use to keep multiple raid groups working cohesively, I think the lot of you would bite your tongues. Well, you’ll see it, one way or the other.

It’s just going to get bigger from here; our guild’s story is a callous privateer military based out of Booty Bay that regards badly defended Horde settlements as opportunities for lightning-quick raids. We’re going to be leaning hard on that story angle in the coming years, through roleplay and how we play in PVP.

Tried to make a defense raid against you guys yesterday. Probably maxed out at like, 28 people I think, only half of which were 60s?

Still, our guild was just getting ready to do a WPvP event ourselves, so we had fun picking off your stragglers at the tail end of your time in Orgrimmar, and then once you guys left we went over to Chillwind and had some fun smaller scale WPvP against some folks from Obsidian Council.

120v120 isn’t my cup of tea by a long shot, but I can enjoy trying to cut away at the edges while you guys fight an entire city. If only you’d accidentally pulled Saurfang :stuck_out_tongue:

Small scale PvP is way more fun than large scale PvP, always has been and always will be. It’s a lag fest or a face stomping bad time. Meh.

I mean, yeah, back on Emerald Dream we had some server crashing epic battles with hundreds of players fighting but that was ALWAYS near the end of expansions when most everyone had fully geared level cap characters and all the guilds were working together. Right now, lots of people are still leveling and just enjoying the game, let alone fully geared enough to enjoy PvP enough to actually participate for more than three seconds.

So, until the above can (if it ever can) ever happen on this server just send your people out in small groups to fight against other LEVEL CAP players. Because stomping in the face of a level 50 when your group is five level 60s is stupid and boring too. And don’t tell me that doesn’t happen because I KNOW it does.

Or you guys could just move over to Horde and fight against the million other zerg guilds that apparently infest the alliance side. :woman_shrugging::woman_shrugging:

Not one of us expected this, or rolled here for such a thing. We expected to see fanatical horde war-bosses.

If only you’d accidentally pulled Saurfang

Kinda shameful to bring 120 people and not try to down the most unstoppable force on the horde

This is a bit ironic considering the only person that griefed / corpse camped me when I leveled to 60 was a member of Hurricane. He sure loved to mash his /spit macro as well.

He had almost a 10 level advantage. Haven’t seen him since 17 days ago when it happened.

The inherent problem with “callous privateer” militias is the training.

You will win with numbers. And that’s quite possibly the the only way.

I don’t care if you dislike the term zerg, but the shoe fits - so wear it.

Noved was removed from guild long ago.
