With the changes as they stand, Blood DK is getting a substancial nerf. Annulet was contributing between 10 to 14% of their damage. Around 30-35% of a BDK damage comes from trinkets/embelishments/special items so, the 8% ability damage increase isn’t remotely close to enough to make up for the loss of Annulet.

And we are talking about the tank with the lowest damage.

Please give DKs a solid rework, we can’t keep going through Best - worst - best - worst.

The objective is generally that you replace your old tier with your new tier, and that’s been something they’ve tried to ensure this patch (and have done a solid job with thus far).

The Onyx Annulet wasn’t just “not replaced this tier.” For the specs the Onyx Annulet was good for, you’d be using it well into next expansion with how good it was for poor-scaling specs like WW, Outlaw, and Sub.

As in, you would be using that item for the entirety of the expansion and partway into the next one because of fundamental problems with how those specs are designed.

why would a 424 ring be better than a 447?
its just wild.

That’s a great question
one that Blizzard hasn’t answered or fixed. Well I guess they are “fixing” it now, but are destroying our DPS in the process.

some specs don’t like secondary stats as much as others, and it’s a ring so there’s no primary stat to inflate it’s value with ilvl.

and some classes like the secondary stats but are stuck with these rings.
no idea

Using both healer and damage in the same sentence? Careful blizz, you’ll trigger half the healing community.

Not entirely sure why this is directed at me? I’ve played every expansion, and Fury has experienced the issue you stated at the same time as others did. My point was their compensation for nerfing this ring isn’t covering enough specs.

One - they should fix specs with awful scaling.

Two - who cares? It’s one of two rings, why can’t one stay BiS for the rest of the expansion? Why are people so eager to throw it away for a painfully bland + secondary stat ring?

Them hunter buffs better be big to make up for this
Who am I kidding its gonna be like 2-3% lol

Because item level is about stat budget and not at all related to how much dps/hps it provides to a given spec due to how the spec interacts with it?

The answer to this question is actually super obvious, though:

The Annulet is good for specs that have low base damage and/or that only really scale with Crit/Versatility and avoid Haste/Mastery like the plague. Annulet is just a damage proc that does base damage scaling off Crit/Versatility, as is the case with the Eranog ring, Bomb Dispenser, Beacon to the Beyond, etc.

Note how the specs that like secondaries, and that consequently scale aggressively as their gear gets better and they get more Haste, (Unholy, Devastation, Shadow, Warlocks, etc.) usually replaced the Annulet reasonably quickly. Now, Warlocks still admittedly use their Eranog ring, but they can also consistently proc it which gives it a ton of value. Now, note how the specs that dislike secondaries (Ret, Sub, MM to an extent) are still using it in many cases and how they’re falling behind quite hard compared to those aforementioned well-scaling specs.

Blizzard knows this is an issue, and most of us know it’s an issue too, but they can’t really address this issue without soft or even hard reworks for these classes. Ironically, the Ret rework made them not want their original two best secondaries anymore, which is the one failing of this spec in my opinion.

if thats the case, they should increase the stones
but obviously, the don’t want to do that lol

Ret doesn’t dislike any secondary. We just got nerfed and warlocks got buffed coming into the patch lmfao. DKs got buffed too.

They should’ve just let us upgrade the ring.

Please nerf Seal of Diurna’s chosen as well, 421 ring beating anything in the current tier is absurd

i’d prefer to not be using it the entire rest of the expansion on my rogue, which is what would happen if it stays as is

Why not? They’d fix it in time for the next expansion. Most likely

Is the prospect of an insanely bland +secondary stat ring just so enticing you need one asap?

Rings even have 2 so if you need that rush you can get it off the other ring.

It’s criminal how boring and lame retail gear is.
