Simply put, Retribution Paladin would largely benefit from a buff. We ask kindly Blizzard for you to please reconsider this.
Issues:
Of all DPS Specializations in WotlK, Paladin is the ONLY CLASS without a viable or desireable Dps Representative for raids. Why is this? Respectfully, Paladin having strong Healing & Tanking Specializations does not answer why Paladin is the lone class in WotlK without a viable DPS Spec. Clawing & scratching to out-DPS the tank should not be the case in Wotlk. Re-rolling or re-speccing should not be the respectable solution when every other class in the game has a DPS Spec (or multiple) that work effectively at doing superior or even satisfactory damage. Paladin in the only One-DPS Specialization Class that even when played optimally, still has fight to out-dps the tank only to be bottem of the barrel by far.
What we ask?
I feel like I speak for most Retribution Paladins when I say we would like to see a buff to single target damage. We do not ask to be overpowered, top meters or become stackable. We simply ask to have respectable DPS. We ask to be do more damage than some of the class specializations with two or three DPS options compared to Paladinâs one-and-only DPS spec option.
Options to accomplish this without compromising the other Paladin specializations?
-Buff to âSactity of Battleâ increasing Crusader Strike & Exorcism damage.
-Buff to âCrusader Strikeâ weapon damage up from 75% making it a true priority over Divine Storm in Single-Target situations.
-Allow Righteous Vengeance to scale with haste and/or increase additional damage above 30%.
-Allow Ret to cast âHand of Reckoningâ without taunting.
-Buff âSanctified Wrathâ
-Reintroduce Sanctity Aura?
Summary
We donât feel as if this is too much to ask for. We donât want the world. Just a simple buff to single target damage to accomplish respectable damage. Blizzard, I kindly ask you to consider this as WotlK has already seen its share of wonderful and meaningful changes. We learned from Wow Classic that no-changes was not what we wanted and we hope the notion of that continues here.
Thank you very much!
Sincerely a loyal Retribution Paladin.
Itâs viable - of the top ten guilds who completed Ulduar 25 this week all of them took at least 4 Pallys. Most took more and most had at least one Ret (6 of the ten). That sounds viable to me. Mandatory or top tier? Nope, but definitely viable.
Similar representation to DPS Warriors and in terms of performance were posting similar results. 1 in 5 raiders at that level were Pallys. So, the class itself is starting off as the most represented in the tier. Compare that to Warriors who were just 1 in every 28 raiders.
So buff prot war so itâs on par with the other tanks, got it.
Seriously, comparing different ROLES is meaningless. The sooner people realize this and stop pretending itâs ok to have a multi-role class be BAD at one of them, the sooner conversations can be actually productive. I think prot war could use some tweaks, so theyâre more desirable. I think ret needs some small tweaks, so theyâre at least closer to average.
But the time spent gearing, enchants, gems, etc. for a specific role can be a huge sink, especially when you factor in time spent making the money to spend on it. Saying âoh prot and holy are goodâ makes no sense⌠as those arenât the same role. A simple respec does not make a healer from a a DPS.
Viable in terms of damage delt? No sir, it is not.
Will Warriors out-scale Retribution Paladins quickly and in a hurry in phase 2? The thought is very much so.
Class Representation as a whole? That isnât the topic. The topic is Retribution Paladin (Paladinâs sole DPS Spec) simpy does not perform respectable Single-Target Damage
DPS warriors bring literally nothing to a raid in ulduar. All buffs can be covered by having a feral druid and a combat rogue. At least Ret brings raid utility.
There will always be a lowest performing spec. Whats the end goal here, to constantly buff the lowest performer until the end of time like retail? Might as well just play DF then.
Also ret buffs would no doubt have some hilarious unintended consequences for pvp. Especially for the âpregâ paladin which is already extremely strong in arenas.
Not asking to be buffed into Oblivion. The class simply is WEAK in Single Target and does not scale like the other DPS Specs. So even buffed and still towards bottom of the barrel is still better than the current state of Ret Paladin DPS
Blizzard, for the love of god, please just bake in some version of t10 2pc into t8 2pc and t9 4pc. That way it doesnât affect pvp any differently than t10 2pc did, and we can finally put this topic to rest by essentially fast forwarding the âbuffâ Rets had received by the time of the patch wotlk-classic is based on.
If not weâre just going to get inundated by this topic over and over and over again throughout this phase.
