Ongoing spam by a specific person on the forums

Hello,

There’s a specific person who is participating in targetted ongoing spam on the forums, they have no intention of any kind of genuine discussions and there only purpose is to spam and necro gdkp threads.

They constantly make new gdkp threads and i would like it to stop. The forums are being flooded by them.

I won’t mention specific names but i have the suspicion that most people know who I’m talking about. Ive used the report feature numerous times and nothing is done can someone in customer support area take a look at the reports i’ve submitted and the post/history of the accounts reported and actually investigate these people to stop this.

Thanks

If moderation haven’t done anything, then it means the person is not violating the Forum Code of Conduct. Keep in mind, disagreements doesn’t mean spam. If you wish to not see the user, than place them on ignore. If they have their profile hidden, manually add them to ignore.

That is not the purpose of Customer Support. If you think someone is violating the Forum Code of Conduct, report them, then place them on ignore.

Looking also at your posting history too, Ripsod, some of it, I would be very careful as well, including part of derailing threads and trolling as well.

There’s actually someone spamming threads with very long ChatGPT generated posts, and that’s literally all that character posts. I’m not exaggerating or making a baseless claim, it literally looks like a bot account.
Flagged as many of their posts as spam that I could before being timed out but they’ve been doing it for awhile now. Literally dozens and dozens of very blatantly AI generated posts that completely ignore whatever points were being discussed.

Unfortunately while ignoring someone does help, it doesn’t stop them from derailing thread after thread because inevitably someone else will respond and then your thread goes completely off the rails.

And yeah they are right Ripsod, this unfortunately isn’t the right place for this post. I know who you are talking about and I’ve long since ignored their main character at least but they keep bumping all their posts to bring them to the top again.
Best we can do is make use of the ignore and report features.

It really seems like the forums are less moderated than the game by far. I’ve seen people making implied real life threats or other things, then delete their post and brag about how it doesn’t matter if they get banned because they have 3 other forum accounts to post from. People will follow you and reply to every post to insult you.
Basically just things that would never fly in-game happen here all the time.

Thankyou for your advice. I will try to figure out how to manually ignore someone with their profile hidden.

Click your character icon on the corner. Go to Preferences. Go to Users. There’s an option there to manually add someone.

Edit: to grab the realm name you can still click on the users “view activity” option like you would any user on the forum. It won’t bring up anything, but their realm name appears in the URL.

On your own forum profile, go to the Preferences tab under your character profile and forum stats, and then go to the Users tab of the sub-menu that pops up.

You can mute and ignore at your discretion on that tab, just make sure you enter users in name-realm format, e.g. Ekon-WyrmrestAccord.

how is manually banning a solution?!?!

The original poster selected that reply as a solution - as it addressed their question on how to place players with hidden forum profiles on ignore.

For clarification, users cannot ban anyone. All a user can do is manually put someone on ignore.

The ignored user is still free to post as before but their posts won’t show up (unless quoted I believe) for anyone who has them ignored.

If you feel someone is violating the Forum Code of Conduct, report it.
If you wish not to respond or see the user, ignore them.

But do not come to Customer Support and look at wanting to pick a fight. Because you will lose that fight, and you’ll loose that fight to the Support Forum Agents.

Think someone is replying in this thread that I put on ignore. Good to know the feature works as he was filling my screen with AI spam.

Thankyou all for your help!

Nothing they have posted would be considered as Ongoing Harassment. And telling people to report and not engage, is not against the policies. The trolling though, from both you and Ripsod, the derailment of threads, and the back and forwards between the both of you, not only is going to get threads locked, but forum action taken against the both of you.

And to bring it here to Customer Support, one of the most heavily moderated part of the forums, isn’t something the both of you should ever be doing. As I said:

Otherwise, if both of you can’t engage with each other appropriately, place each other on ignore, and do not attempt to contact each other.

All this because I’m simply trying to get gdkps kept out of the game. The game I love. No other reason.

By calling out players in contravention of the forum code of conduct (on the single most moderated forum, by the way)?

It’s a bold strategy, let’s see how it plays out.

Literally the only moderated part of the forums.

Literally spams threads with walls of AI generated text. Just to drown everyone out.

Thankyou for your swift replies.

For your part, if you’re actively ignoring someone, it’s probably better if you don’t taunt them with that knowledge.

Don’t start drama. If someone else starts drama, don’t add to it.

Don’t say you weren’t warned.

I’ll just let Vrakthris or Orlyia deal with it when they start work in the morning.
