One thing that IS getting annoying, blizzard

is your hokey common core math.

I ran the SAME WQ today on two druids.
One is my main…resto 170ilvl.
the other is resto 90ilvl

At no point did I even come close to dying on the 90ilvl. Burned right thru the quest with very little problem.
On the 170, however, I got snuffed by TWO stinking minor world trash who burned thru my health with ALL of my HoT’s running full tilt.

Get your math right or theres frankly NO point in gearing up if the game gets HARDER as I get STRONGER, lmao.

edit…geezus…why does this feel like deja vu?
I swear I made this SAME thread topic early BFA.

The math is fine.

If you’re upset with scaling, That’s not a math thing, and sadly working exactly how they want it to.

This is the design of their game. Your level goes up, but you basically restart a fresh character every expansion, but in a perverse way, you get weaker as you go.

In order to have end game progression feel like something, they make you lose all your stats as you level, leaving you weakest as soon as you reach the maximum level.

It is hard to imagine a “less RPG” way to design a game.

Sadly, this is how they want it to work. You feel weaker as you get more gear which keeps you trying to get more more gear to feel stronger. It’s a hamster wheel.

By the time you get to level 60 and have a 170ish item level, you’re at the point where you’re gaining power.

did you even read the OP?
Im at 170 and its been a steady DECLINE of power as the ilvl has been growing

I pretty much locked most of my characters at a point in BFA at 115 and below because of this crap. Whats the point of gearing up if gearing up = getting my rump murdered by the same crap my low ilvl characters can sleep thru, lol.

Even the colors we see on the screen are numbers …interpreted by the processor so it knows what color to put on the screen in each pixel.
The scaling is scaling numbers. Its just not doing ‘right’ …well ‘right’ in my opinion. Apparently since this is at least two expansions in a row that its been a very noticeable problem, it might be ‘right’ in blizzards mind.

But the math isn’t. There is no fixing the math.

If you want a different outcome, that’s fine, but claiming “Fix your math” is just like, super dumb.

The jump from Normal to Nightmare and Nightmare to Hell in Diablo 2 resulted in your resistances being lowered drastically. I interpreted this as a way to increase the difficulty.

I thought the logic in WoW was similar.

they can change how the scaling works…they put it in place to begin with guy…the CAN adjust the numbers.
If they cant, they need to find different careers.

That’s not fixing math. That’s changing the equation.

I realize theyre doing this scaling thing after the fact…years after the game was created…so they dont have the advantage of a newer game like ESO…but they COULD look at other games that scale and try to replicate how they work.
ESO world scaling is really good. Stuff I should be able to beat, i can beat. Stuff that should feel me my own liver, does.

Just makes no sense to me that college educated devs are still having these kinds of problems years later.

What a trash system.

dude…just stifle.
Computers are pretty much fancy calculators. Its all numbers.

A lot of us did.

You stop losing power as soon as you hit 60. Any gear upgrades after that will increase your power.

You probably did, BFA had the exact same problem but much worse.

you can ignore this part as much as you wish, gent…I KNOW what happened a few hours ago… lol

Not all mobs are created equal.

it was definitely more noticeable in BFA. Thankfully I caught on quick enough to not go ahead and level all my characters then.
If I was level 120 and my ilvl was lower than 325ish, my 112 in all greens could run circles around my max level character.
They cant possibly believe this is rewarding.
Im not asking to one shot anything…im asking to not feel WEAKER as Im gearing up, lol.

whew…SAME quest…SAME mobs…jesus flipping christ, dude.

Does anyone pontificating the finer points of gear Ilvl know if there is a point where we start actually feeling stronger (at what ilvl) or is it all just Ionized double talk?
