One possible reason why we do not see more blue posts

I noticed recently, when the blue post came up about the drum fix, that the post went from, thanks!, to AND can we have…, AND what about…, AND why nothing on… , very quickly. This made me realize that if I was a forum mod or official, I might not want to post often either.

We as a community see a blue post and immediately bombard them like a celebrity spotting and start beating them with an avalanche of all the gripes and requests we have.

Just an observation. Maybe if we kept blue posts on topic and did not bombard them like impatient children, we might see more blue posts.

(Now, let the flaming and “shut up, you Blizzard groupie” posts begin)

Tseric put it pretty well.

Can’t help it.
Posting impassionately, they say you don’t care.
Posting nothing, they say you ignore.
Posting with passion, you incite trolls.
Posting fluff, you say nonsense.
Post with what facts you have, they whittle down with rationale.
There is no win.
There is only slow degradation.
Take note. It is the first and only time you’ll see someone in my position make that position.
You can be me when I’m gone.

Perfectly stated. I noticed the exact same thing. When a blue posts it immediately turns into a gripe fest and a bombardment with off topic questions.

Of course I can also see why. Blizzard very rarely communicates so when they finally do players feel that it is their only opportunity to be heard. Every player wants their own personal dialogue with the blue, even though there is only one blue and thousands of posters, each with their own agenda.

It is an impossible position for the blue to be in, but an understandable illusion of opportunity for the players to get answers.

I know I would never want to be a blue or a forum mod here. That would suck.

I do get the feeling. “Oh look a Community Manager, this is my opportunity to ask a question.”, it’s understandable. You get so little opportunities to do so, you should take the chance you have.

But we forget that they are people too and how would you feel if you came into a room to tell everyone that dinner is ready and got immediately overwhelmed with questions like:

“Hey, when are you going to repaint this room?”
“Why is the coffee table so small?”
“You really need to do something about that area rug!”

I would be like, well forget all of you, I was just trying to tell you dinner was ready.

Negative feedback loop.

They get bombarded with questions, making their posts rarer, which makes their posts even more desirable to jump on.

A consistent line would be nice but that just opens the gate for more annoyance.

All you have to do is look up tseric and epic meltdowns for why we don’t have more blue participation like we did back in the day.

It’s kind of sad that one over strung CM ruined the interaction for everyone.

Yes im sure Blizzard are very concerned with people on the forums asking for more attention to their game. They are just so worried about being bombarded I am sure Blizzard READS EVERY POST AND SEES THE COMMENTS GOING FROM THANK YOU TO GIVE ME US MORE!!! THEY READ ALL THE POSTS.

Blues tend to post when they have something concrete to say.

I think that’s a good plan to follow.

^ Exactly this.

I agree with everyone in this thread. Dual spec definitely needs to be put int the game

They don’t respond because they feel guilty about treating their customers so poorly on a regular basis.

Kidding. They don’t feel guilty.

Being a CM is rough, being the face everyone associates to the game you get comments of all kinds directed at you which i can imagine would be stressful if they were to read them.

If interacting with the hoi polloi is too stressful for the little snowflakes, they can always close their threads to comments.

No, I think that would only make the issue worse, not better. It would reinforce the idea that they have something to say and you do not get a voice in the matter.

No, leaving comments open is the better solution.

So, exactly like it is now.

On the other hand, if they posted more people would be less likely to swarm them the moment they saw a blue post trying to get all their questions in.

That said, I 100% understand why somebody might not want to interact with us.

I’ve met us.

Seems like a good reason that you’re not one.

Trying to shift blame onto paying costumers is always a terrible idea. Blizzard gets the kind of communication and community that they’ve built over the years through their inability to communicate.

It’s a “you get out what you put in” type of deal.

To be fair they used to communicate a lot and people cried that class X had 3 more blue posts than class Y.

Despite that we mostly just joke about what happened with Tseric these days, the guy actually had a very valid point when he said:

Not that Blizzard is blameless here, but communication is a two way street.
