Thanks for that Catch, have fixed the puncutation in the sentence. Had a long night at work.
Just another example of them taking something away from the players. Only this time, it’s take it away, while at the same time giving it to everyone else for a price.
Love that site for all my pet questions. Always good to look up sources cause Trade can be full of Trolls, and sometimes others just don’t know.
If I was misleading - I apologize. I don’t use my strider mount 100% of the time, but between levels 20 and 60 I do, as well as any area where there’s no flying and water. Once I hit level 60+, I’m usually flying everywhere I can - simply because it’s faster.
I’ve submitted logical and reasonable feedback about the changes, but there’s only so much you can do. I’m thoroughly unhappy about their method of implementation (they’re taking away a lot more than we’re getting) - and not so much about them trying to improve mount utility. However, there are far more important things they could be working on (such as the poor state that a lot of classes are in) instead of things we never really asked for.
No longer.
The removal squad decided that ability was OP.
Because it means a player might be less likely to use a different mount that they actually want to use in order to use the water strider. Because it is a better mount. They obviously don’t have an issue with the concept of water walking because it will still be available for the exact same effort as acquiring a water strider. Except we will have the option to use it with a mount of our choosing.
Curse them. It gave another class Battle Rez if need be. Oh well.
Come to think of it. I don’t even really remember ever reading why they changed hunter pets. I absolutely LOVED being able to use whatever pet skin that I liked for each of my tank/dps pets.
No, you’re not misleading, I’m just agreeing with you that striders were useful, but did not need nerfing.
Blizzard is just creating more hoops for us to jump through in order to make more money out of the remaining players in this game.
I had this sneaky feeling that i asked in game after i actually did go and look up what pet had rez, because the spirit beasts still had a heal. I was in my one and only dungeon this expansion when i asked so i could zone out and get the right pet, and was told that it was taken out. Guess me and Grumpy both got played by Blizz!
Curses!
Yes, we think we’re playing Warcraft, but in reality, Warcraft’s bosses are playing us.
They wanted to streamline the pet families. But the funny thing is, the Clefthooves from WoD are a ferocity pet with Blood of the Rhino, and Thick Hide, making them the best tanking pet in the game. There is not a single tanking pet worth taming that can be it, or any other ferocity pet for that matter.
You are keeping what you earned. You earned water walking, that will no longer be an advantage. You are not entitled to a new advantage.
The most logical solution would be to leave the strider as is and make it not benefit from mount equipment. That would be the end of all the outrage.
The water walking mount is a popular mount featured in a lot of treasure hunting / farming / speed leveling / completionist type content. One of the more recent secrets in the game for example, Baa’l, required either the Water Walking mount or the Raft. It’s not a problem, or a bad thing, it’s just not something not everyone likes. The players that do this type of content as their primary source of gameplay have what… 200-250+ mounts sometimes, but they’re only riding one for everything they do. This change isn’t a negative one in my opinion.
Make other mounts more useful and more accessible without diminishing useful mounts in any way
That is pretty much what they’re doing.
The content you list still adds up to only a small part of the game, and players who did not want to use water walking for those times could do it without, or if they do want waterwalking they could use a potion, use any of the 3 classes with waterwalking abilities, or as you mention, use a raft. There were already loads of choices. There is even a toy boat which can carry a passenger, which I often use just for fun despite having both striders.
As it is Blizzard has taken away water walking from every player who has farmed up the aqua water strider and not yet reached level 100. Not everyone has high level alts.
I have 2 accounts full of toons who all could use the strider. How much is it going to cost me to equip all 100 to regain an ability Blizzard has taken away?
Will currently available mount buffs still be able to be used?
How will we get new equipment next expansion, keeping in mind Blizzard generally prevents profession made items being relevant to future expansions?
My mounts have definitely been diminished - and if you believe it’s been done for freedom of choice I’ve got a nice, big bridge to sell you. This change monetizes one more aspect of the game, making players need more gold, therefore increasing the number of tokens sold.
Won’t know the cost until Tuesday. The water walking item however is sold by the vendor, not crafted by a profession, so any concerns for the future of the item should be fine.
I’m not sure why the requirement is level 100 but if there are players that don’t have any characters past 90 then there isn’t much that can be done for them if the level remains at 100 unless they give feedback and make the issue known, so that during the PTR blizzard can hopefully act on it.
Everything in the game is bought with gold. I’m not really going to hop on the “monetization. monetization everywhere!” when it applies to everything in the game bought with gold. New systems, old systems, black market AH, increased gold cap, etc etc etc.
I just think it’s because it’s become the required and/or correct mount to use all the time.
I don’t think it’s any conspiracy to slow people down or they wouldn’t have added in Water Walking equipment.
perhaps people would be more inclined to believe this, if we hadn’t seen so many items become “junk” over the course of time.
This nerf, and it is an intentional one, is only truly negated if every mount has a equipment slot and thus you would put your free (if you owned it already) ww equipment on your Strider and carried on with your day. Else, they intentionally broke Striders and gave you a mount gear spot on your person and it now affects every every mount equally, but you lose the ww ability (inherent to a water strider) if you swap to anti-daze.
So, which is it?
