Your suggestion was one-button rotation for MoP. You can’t pivot to “in 2 or 3 years” as an argument in favor of adding it now.
Loving the energy in here and yes, Zen Mode and Training Wheels Mode are evolving into actual feature concepts whether we intended it or not.
Here’s the vision: one-button rotation with a visible –35% DPS penalty, manual CC/defensives to keep PvP chaotic, and UI flourishes to make sure we all know who’s chillin’. Think glowing borders, passive emotes like “
You’re vibin’,” and every 10 minutes a popup saying “You’re almost a real player!”
Add a target dummy-only sim mode so players can watch their character play optimally. It’s like a DPS mirror, teaching through humiliation and enlightenment. You get out-DPSed by a button? Time to hit the books or the AH for better gear.
And for critics saying “one-button = bad design,” I get it. But accessibility, onboarding, and low-pressure content don’t need gatekeeping. MoP’s combat might be simpler, but not everyone wants to start with a piano concerto of keybinds. This just lowers the volume so people can learn the tune.
Blizzard could frame it like Mythic vs. LFR different lanes, same destination. And for those worried this turns WoW into a mobile game… well, it’s been halfway there for years. Might as well make the ride smoother.
Or not, classic is meant to be something different. If retail goes a certain way then classic should be seen as a way to explore other options and in this case like you’ve mentioned with LFR I think it’s fine to want to go away from this type of design or what makes it closer to a mobile game.
Totally get where you’re coming from Classic should preserve its own spirit. That said, my post wasn’t entirely serious. The OP tossed out bait with the whole one-button idea, so I wanted to see just how deep that rabbit hole would go if we took it semi-seriously.
Turns out when you engage bait with mock sincerity, and start pitching actual features > like Zen Mode, DPS mirrors, and PvP chaos penalties.it snowballs fast. Wild, right? Honestly, it’s been fun watching the idea evolve and revealing how players think about design, accessibility, and what makes Classic… Classic.
Don’t worry I’m not advocating full-on Retailification. Just stirring the pot a little and watching what floats to the surface. Some of it’s spice, some of it’s soup. I’ll leave it to Blizzard to taste test. ![]()
I’m all to make some changes but the direction they lead to which is to make the game more toward solo players which is what retail has become isn’t something personally I’ve enjoyed more. I wasn’t sure where you were going with your post so I made a comment about it.
I’m all to help players learn more and I think in WoD them making proving ground required for queued content was a good idea personally. But definitely there are concerns with the amount of buttons that we got in mop, it’s the expansion that started to really popularize the use of a mmo mouse because of it.
lfr is basically a 1 button rotation lets be honest
I want it all. I want it all. I want it all, and I want it now. Reading is too hard and L2P takes too long! Call the waambulance.
Best part of MoP and Cata is NO LFR
The more important thing to find out is how do we lobotomize people who think we should ever add anything like that in any version of the game.
hopefully it stays that way. one button rotations and loot pinatas are the core reason why the later expacs were lackluster outside of some of the endgame.
you know being good in this in this comes down to button presses a minute. its easy, it might take 2o hrs of streaming each day to do this, so train carefully. just work on getting one finger fit for ur builder skills tttttttttttttttttttype like a flipn mad thing
have work on the reaction time ie be over caffeinated and/or just on the spectrum . Now for the spenders when a little button lights up or goes Bing! you bonk ok? easy.
Its called a gse addon get it like everyone else bro
Development time/effort is one reason why not. Possibly attracting people to Retail, as it could be a selling point. I am sure there are many more, so this is by no means an exhaustive list, but those are just a couple of answers to your question that pop to mind.

Nah you do 35% less in a random I’m just gonna vote kick and hold to get someone non lazy under your idea
Do you find reading hard? Do you lack reading comprehension?
Might want to slow down there, champ I wasn’t actually advocating the idea.
If you’d read a few posts deeper, you’d have seen this:
It was satire-meets-design experiment. The kind that exposes how people think about accessibility, onboarding, and Classic’s identity. Zen Mode, DPS mirrors, PvP chaos penalties it was brainstorming, not battle plans.
If you’re vote-kicking ideas based on jokes-with-a-point, you might be swinging a little early. ![]()
+1 this would be handy for players missing fingers
