I took getting crushed by Fel Reaver as a rite of passage.
Yes.
No.
I just laugh that people still try player versus player in World of Warcraft.
No.
No.
You’re conflating “tedious” with “effort” in some of these examples.
I prefer my challenging content to remain instanced, however I don’t mind a challenge here and there in open world. I like open world to be more relaxing, and I am not shy of challenging content, it usually just becomes an annoyance in open world when there is a “challenge” in my personal opinion. I am comfortable with the current state of overland content.
I just wanna do my dailies and go home, this seems silly.
They actually do have minibosses in DF that are actually pretty well designed.
The problem is every single other mob. And also questing is so linear.
I too wish the overworld was challenging and engaging. It’s one of the biggest things keeping from playing the game.
I’m sorry but anybody who advocates for the trivialization of over world content has MMO brain rot.
You have to be conditioned so deeply and badly by bad game design to actually think content should be a daily participation trophy.
I prefer my challenging content to remain instanced
What you’re really saying is “I prefer blizzard to spend the bulk of it’s developer time, money, and assets on garbage overworld content that is overly easy and that nobody enjoys.”
Just make the whole game instanced if that’s what players want. (it’s not, they would rather play Elden Ring then this boring kiddie game for babies.)
Fyrakk burned me up.
In my experience, players that complain the most about easy open world never even step foot in any challenging content so its obvious why they get bored.
Its not fair to the casual player to make open world difficult, there is PLENTY of challenge in the game, not everything needs to be challenging.
And if you think WoW is a boring kiddie game, then why bother honestly? I bet if you had some endgame credentials you’d have a different point of view imo.
Yea you’re right. I don’t step foot in the challenging content.
Because the game is so easy it’s not worth my time playing. Because it essentially has a 4+ hour tutorial before the real game actually starts. (a tutorial that doesn’t actually teach you how to play)
The only people who DON’T complain about the overworld are people who rush to end game and spam the same 5 dungeons over and over and over and over and over again.
I’d rather just play Elden Ring. Where the game is properly balanced and things feel appropriately challenging at all stages of the game.
I can still hear the Fel Reaver in my dreams, any mention of hellfire penns or world bosses all I hear is…
BWWWAAAAAAUUUUUU smush
And there’s the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring that you can’t easily defeat when you first encounter.
No seriously today if stitches ran up on me I’d stun or CC him and run away and almost definitely live
Mythic+ up to where the rewards end at least I wouldn’t call requiring “effort” lol.
Zone in, smash smash, finish key.
Different game for different people. Modern gamers have short attention spans and almost zero patience for anything. There is also an almost rabid belief that failing at a game is an indication of some shortcoming with the game, and not themselves.
If you added even something like real elite wandering mobs that hard required a trinity group to kill, people would lose their mind.

Depends on your gear and skill. I definitely wouldn’t call Mythic Keystone Level 2s “zone in, smash smash, finish key” day one of the season…
I don’t really agree - you can have difficult or dangerous areas while still having easier other areas for bad or very casual players. I think having challenging areas in the open world could actually provide casual players with a form of progression.
I’m personally a really big fan of LOTRO’s leveling difficulty settings. I think WoW should implement the exact same thing and offer cosmetic’s and perhaps increased XP for the harder modes since they would otherwise take longer to level through.
I don’t think you understand what tedious means if you think running the same ~half dozen dungeons over and over again without end isn’t tedious? I also made no comments on effort or lack of, but if I had, something like making gold doesn’t take much effort at all unless you are playing the AH manipulation game.
The good ole days are over.
You are 100% right. Blizzard now focuses more on microtransactions over content. The people who brought us this wonderful game are long gone sadly along with that passion of making an awesome product.
