On Twinking: Addressing Misconceptions

This is one of my rogues. Show me which piece is hard to get? Point out the “time sink” piece. Where is the absurdity here?

She isnt even a T1 twink, but she is a very strong toon. Everything easily obtained and readily available.

Tip: Its not about the color of the letters above the gear, its all about the stats on the gear.

Yea classes are less balanced than gear in the early brackets.

I’m not a new player. I have zero interest in twinking and resent having to play against twinked players. The “If you can’t beat them, join them” attitude has transmogrified into “If you can’t beat them, it’s your responsibility to join them and if you don’t it’s your own fault” b/c “New players aren’t immune to gearing up”, right? Gaslighting 101. And Strawmanning as well.

A 120 who PvPs and doesn’t work on his gear doesn’t have a good reason to complain about others who do. That’s because at 120 everyone’s xp stops. At 120, everyone who gears up is a twink, in essence.

However, a 35 who enjoys adding RBGs to his questing and crafting just to mix up the game a bit has every reason to complain about facing a 39 who turns off his xp and has spent months acquiring BiS gear and saving up gold to spend on the most powerful enchantments at that level.

Has your experience as an Arcane Mage within the lower brackets been rough?

I’m saying a new player will learn quickly that BG’s require keeping your gear up to date.

It doesn’t take much, quest and do dungeons.

Anyone who expects an easy time in BG’s while wearing gear that’s outdated needs to understand PvP at any level requires gear.

If you think all levelers are lazy and don’t keep their gear up to date you didn’t do low level BG in the 6 years twinks were separated.

Don’t do dungeons, never did, I prefer BGs to AI puzzels.
It’s just a preferred play style, like playing twinks, supporting a variety of play styles was one of the great strengths of the early game; too bad Blizzard abended that paradigm.

Then you really shouldn’t have any problems with twinks my dude. Skill still goes a lot further than gear does.

twinks should have their own brackets and battlefields akin to skermish and arena.

I never had a problem with twinks, because I started playing BGs when they were added to the game.

We were all new to them.

But I’ve seen new players who have had problems.

Leveling through BGs is how you learn to play your class and spec in PvP.

People leveling alts are enough of a challenge for a new player, why wouldn’t someone dedicated to playing at lower levels not want to play others with the same play style, apart from those who actually do play for the unfair advantage and who give the rest a bad name.

I understand that queues would be longer, but assuming they were drawn from the entire region they shouldn’t be abusively long unless the twink play style is actually much less popular than it seems.

What about when I ding level 70 and equip a full Epic PVP season armor set + Epic weapons, fully enchanted and all 10+ Gem slots filled.
Trinkets and rings from vendors and AH will follow the same strengths.
If my Experience is on, am I still a “Twink”?

you tell me. Are they easy to get by leveling or would they take time away from leveling? Would it require a tangent timeline without exp? Not sure, never had those sets.

Lots of things take time from leveling, new players don’t tend to focus on leveling as fast as they can and tend to try different things / take everything in while leveling.

I will hit 80, 85, 90, 100 and do the exact same process.
Fully enchanted, Full Gem Slots. Best in possible slot.
Experience on.
Will you want to separate the player who spends some Honor Tokens and $2 worth of gold to gear an adventurer then too??

well thats all subjective to the leveler. If they have a guild giving them advice or what not. right now that point is just hearsay.

so you can buy them with honor tokens and not have to do dungeons or arenas to get, then yes its ok, it just takes knowledge.

Scroll up and spot the hypocrisy.

As long as experience is on it is ok to be a “Twink”.

did I say that?

And yet you have the audacity to suggest that separation of this community and population of the entire lower brackets system is a good thing.

I think it is, if that is audacity for suggesting that entry level random battlegrounds should be separated from well geared non leveling honor farmers then I guess I am audacious. Again its apples and oranges. Its mixing exp giving battlegrounds for leveling with predatory non exp behavior to take advantage of lower level people. Its simple. I do not think its right, but that is my opinion. YMMV

What difference would this make to your decision?
