It felt stupid to play on classic era when I had to run to raid on my pve spec. I could have fought all my way against griefers to the dungeon and raids with my pvp spec, but the pve spec gimped me hard. Protesting against dualing spec is super idiotic in my opinion. If you want game philosophy, RP, w/e, go play on RP servers, or don’t use it. Let others play the way they want.
Are you serious? Spec swapping is a thing that’s been in the game for ever, it was just more costly and less QoL convenient. The entire reason free, on-the-fly spec/talent swapping it’s in the game in the first place is that the players of those previous expansions you’re now playing as “Classic” had been begging for it for years.
Hell, we were asking for at least dual spec back during Vanilla.
Good grief kids these days have really short memories.
These dumbass just throw random bs and say “it’s the reason” with zero logic and critical thinking. You can never reason with a brick. The best thing is they think they are smart to point out “the reason”.
That’s nonsense.
Dual spec existing has nothing to do with the player base punishing toxic players who come underprepared and waste other people’s time, i.e showing up in a meme spec.
Trust me, show up in some bs to one of my runs, I’m replacing you without hesitation, dual spec or not.
Really? That’s the reason you don’t play retail? That’s like the last thing I’d ever think about of why I don’t like retail.
much better, I agree, I don’t mind stopping by a trainer for a free respec or change saved builds!
There should not be the traditional dual spec, but having templates saved that you switch between at a trainer is the way to go. I don’t like the idea of switching between two specs on the fly, but a reasonable one time expense to switch at your trainer seems to fit the spirit of SoD.
Lol. Dual specs is not too much of a crowning feature. It’s something that should have been basegame. How is adding something to a mode that’s not even out yet ruining the game?
Why did you roll on Savage Gladiator Chain?
“ it’s for my OS”
This rarely happened because in classic, people had to pay gold to swap specs. It lowered the amount of tanks/healers taking big dps items or dps taking healer items.
With dual spec. I’d feel forced to use Master looter for 5mans if there’s a pug. Not just on a big item boss but in general so my friends and myself aren’t griefed for a offspec roll. Accessibility isn’t always good.
This, by itself, is enough to discourage “off specs”.
There’s always been “off-specs”
I mean people were tanking and healing as their “off-spec” to gear up for their “main-spec”.
We already know runes are interchangeable out of combat and dual spec will synergize with that.
Did you play classic?
Yes.
I respecced every week from raid spec to PvP spec.
So did alot of people I know. So did more people I didn’t know.
Even without respeccing people were rolling on “off-spec” gear from 1-60. And even more true is the first example I gave. People only using a tank/healing spec specially to gear up for DPS.
The only difference between dual spec and saved templates at the class trainer is wasted time.
That’s not really the same thing.
Only if nobody else did.
With dual spec. A healer will try to take dps gear from a dps so they can farm. While before, they wouldn’t because of a 50g base loss.
Only if dual spec costs a boatload of gold.
There are even posts asking for transmog, it’s a complete mess on these " classic " forums.
I think the appeal of never-before-seen specs has drawn in the retail crowd who obviously want to take a large turd on classic and completely turn it into disneyland so they can be done with it in a few weeks and go back to retail-land when the new expansion releases.
On topic though, I think dual spec is less of an issue compared to rune swapping, runes should only be swappable in a rested area at least ( not even asking for main cities) , as it stands right now swapping out of combat also mimics a meta of constant rune swapping between pulls.
Choosing runes should be a playstyle choice that’s not too hard to swap but not easy enough to basically have all the runes at your disposal every 30 secs.
Absolutely agree on rune swapping. It feels very retail talenty to me.
Choices need weight and meaning.
I’d even go so far as to put a cool down on rune swapping to 3times a day.
This is just incorrect. People were still rolling on OS gear (even if others did) before Dual Spec.
Perhaps, but rolling need on your os in a 5 man will be discouraged without dual spec, with it, it will be a built in way to just take gear your spec doesn’t need. In fact, I bet players will have a “list” of those that need on os gear.
Idk how the runes work, but aren’t they per piece of gear? If so, and that was implemented, wouldn’t it encourage people to literally roll on gear they already have for a different rune?
It is with dual spec too, source, I play WotLK classic.
