Not black and white. There’s all types. People who love a good game and those who exploit and bully and stalk, and everywhere in between. It gets all mashed up. There’s potential for some great gaming in Epic BGs, but like all things, there’s also potential for it to be ruined by idiots.
What would help is much better game design that fosters competition while supressing the jerks. Other games achieve it. But what would also help is recognising there’s good communities, and bad, good leaders and bad ones. And that’s on us as players.
Flock around some idiot because they’re ‘good’ and do nothing but play the game all day, everyday, for decades like a South Park trope … or choose fun and friends and collegiate competition. Choice is everyone’s. Choice is yours.
Only communities who used to avoid was when there was a blanket ban on playing for or against AFK 'cause he’s a monumental turd and would stalk and post the slightest victory while studiously hiding and pretending loses never happened. Hence the nick-name.
Regular communities enjoy a good fight and GG each other in the Brute Force group community channel regularly. See it regularly still.
We do this in AVM. We welcome a challenge and always jump at the chance to fight other premades. Mesohorny told me he wants a piece of SPM so we will be trying to queue into them next. It honestly depends on how mean they are. If they are mean, we tactically avoid them. We don’t dodge. It has nothing to do with winning or losing but we never lose. Ever.

Yep. It really comes down to the individual. A good number of good individuals sustain genuine community. JMO it’s easier to see that on horde side these days, but I’m sure there are some really cool alliance who probably still solo.
Pretty much. Also folks should already know most of the ‘louder’ alliance posting on the forums enjoy typing untruths and fishing for drama, so take whatever they say with a guffaw.
