You can make the conscious choice to use a flying mount to get somewhere far, or to escape combat
or you can choose to use your ground mount in combat, which as far as killing other players goes, is much better than using a flying mount that you cannot attack on
Net o matic exists, And other players cannot fight on their mounts so anyone who is on a flying mount is no threat to you anyway and the moment they dismount they are permanently screwed when it comes to escaping you
And finally, if a player escapes you despite the fact that you are literally mounted 24/7 in combat, have chains, have grip, and deaths advance, its entirely your fault, and you have a l2p issue,
Oh and what about pve/questing? Paler horse makes DK feel nearly as good as druid with questing, all ground collect quests are faster, pulling mobs and cleaving is faster, everything is faster its far better than deathcharger in any case where you are able to use it
i figured people would be making a bigger stink about how sanlayn is basically completely DOA.
paler horse is obvious questing fun with death charge being the main talent you take. if you really need to escape wpvp that bad, death charge will get you to a cliff or location where you can glider/potion of deepholm.
the alternative node is exactly what you want in instance too, not sure why either. im hype about the hero trees theyre insanely fun except san which feels weak
It’s pretty bad considering every open world area is also flyable. If they started the xpac out with no flying then it would be amazing during that period.
This is not the point of it. I want to world pvp with it but people just fly around so you only get active questers and it’s worse than the other talent for pvp. Can’t ghost walk with the horse even.
Open world PvP and BGs are literally the only context where Paler Horse makes sense, so sure, if you’re advocating for its PvP use, fine, but that doesn’t exactly make it a desirable talent if you’re playing with Warmode off or don’t PvP.
It’s so fast to mount up, double tap space bar, and be exactly where you need to be for an objective in less than three seconds. If you flying mount, you need to re-cast Deathcharger, which kinda just sucks, when you could either pop an instant cast temp deathcharger or just flying mount.
Rider is generally all fluff and no substance for PvE content of all varieties. I’m running Rider rn because everything dies so quickly, but even in the open world, Death Charge+skyriding is generally just better than a perma combat ground mount. Re-casting horse every time you fly anywhere is really tedious.
There’s no competitive meta surrounding wPvP, so realistically the only aplication for the ability is going to be rated battlegrounds. That’s literally the only scrap of content where the ability matters.
Just use your refuel button, that makes it 8 charges. If you’re cycling through 8 charges during a world quest before they can recharge, frankly speaking you’re just bad at flying. and if enemies are vaguely close, Death’s Charge has a 10 second duration of 100% mount speed as well. Dragon stamina isn’t a gate.
What are you talking about? The second you hit while mounted, it dismounts you because you’re in combat. Who cares I can mount while in combat and get away……
I’m a rogue, I only get to garrote ambush before everything dies. This talent was a lie, I lvled my dk to 80 to try it and soon as I saw…. Yuk. I thought I was missing something so I kept going but talent is useless.
Paler horse does not work in bgs or I would have 0 complaints about it. It only works in the open world and dungeons where flying is enabled. It’s why it’s frankly a dead talent even by pvp standards.
That’s… not true at all? You indeed stay mounted while you fight things. Maybe you were trying to use the wrong mount? It has to be the Acherus Deathcharger.
This is the weirdest post. Did someone come up to you and try to debate paler horse being weak? First time in my, longer then I’d like to admit, wow career ive ever seen someone mention this.
It’s infinitely worse than simply running on foot and mounting to fly between objectives. There’s no argument that running at 100% speed on a horse on foot is better than that. It’s ludicrous to even suggest it.
