Old mage abilities

Would like a civil conversation here, with the unpruning a lot of old mage abilities didn’t come back. Would like to know people’s opinions about bringing back some such as:

Deep freeze
Blazing speed
Evocation heal.

First off deep freeze.
A lot of people think this would make the class broken but it wouldn’t if they did I properly.
A) Should be frost baseline only
B) or put it in the talent row of shimmer
C) make baseline but nerf damage

Fire had Dragons Breath, Arcane has mass invisible(Just make this baseline ffs, good raid utility) and then give frost deep

Blazing speed
Take it out of Cauterize, throw it in the talent with shimmer

Evocation/ Evocation Heal
This one is pretty simple and not game breaking.
Give each spec Evocation, not only arcane. Then make a conduit for it to heal instead of ice block heal, now you can kick the heal but it has a shorter cd compared to ice block.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

The issue you’re going to run into with a discussion like this is that mages already have so much left while over classes either got gutted or a lot removed. If the current designs and toolkits stay mages need to lose more stuff to make them fall in line, they just have too much compared to other classes currently.

Give all mage specs deep freeze and shatter mechanics. Make combustion a dot again. Adjust damage accordingly.

Also, frostjaw was pretty awesome. Please give it back.

PS: Symbiosis was one of the best spells ever created in wow.

OG Living bomb was so much fun.

There is a ton of abilities that should come back, not just for mage but for every class.

Specs feel like they are missing pieces from previous expansions

Symbosis was one of the worst parts of MoP.
You’re fried.

While I agree we just don’t currently have them. And blizzard seems like they’ll be stingy going forward so mages need to lose something at this point imo.

Honestly they should of kept fire how it was before legion and given the new combust mechanic to arcane .

Having a control spec with frost
A dot spec with fire
And mega squishy 1 school burst with arcane

i most def pick D that would be good

I agree. It seems like some specs are just MADE for pvp, while others struggle just to get by.

What, you don’t like druids having block? :joy:

  1. is there an option D. to not bring back deep freeze?
  2. mage already has enough utility with blinks and covenant being a thing
  3. again mage already has enough utility with shields and conduits.

I think my fav thing to do in MoP bgs was run with a dk/boomkin. Have the boomkin root/beam after the dk uses the og version of gorfiends grasp.

Once the entire team was packed together nice and tight I’d combust and just melt faces.

Runner up was the unnerfed storm keeper. You could literally melt 5 people down to almost dead with it. :joy: It’s a shame what they’ve done to ele. I still miss gust of wind…

bring back the monk ability that was a ranged root that you had to aim, that was sick

Yes, I agree that RMP does seem to be lacking in the crowd control and mobility departments. How long must this eternally C tier composition languish before it receives the buffs it not only deserves, but needs?

i dont see how rmp players make it work tbh… with being a c tier comp close to f tier not to mention…

It was busted in certain ways, but it was probably one of the most fun spells added to the game imo.

As for the main topic, a good part of the playerbase has advocated for the return of such abilities. But overall I’d say that a lot of the older design elements need to come back along with good tuning. You can’t just give frost mage deep freeze and expect it to be the spec that it was from wrath-mop. Same goes with some of the other specs. There are lots of modifications which need to happen in order for classes to return to having high skill cap.

I would say 60% of the specs require design overhauls in order to bring back a very rewarding playstyle that is challenging to master.

The more utility you take away from pure dps classes the more passive tankiness and damage they get which creates a problem when they have a class that can set up for them

Rmp is good tho so boring garbage design that promotes the play style everyone hates is fine. You should only play this game to increase the number in the win column. There shall be no fun to be had ever aside from winning 3v3 matches.

It really really was not. I had over 70 keybinds as ele and I had to keep one free just in case some dudu symbiosis on me so I could have solar beam.

Giving druids with already substantial defensives another major defensive from a different class was idiotic. It’s almost as stupid as giving druids bubble

It was not fun to play with or against. And impossible to balance.

People dont think about how things work when playing against them, they just wanna go pew pew pew.

Has this game ever been balanced?
