Old content with new achievements is not new content

and as an ideal, that’s fine. but that requires blizzard to go through and tune each of those pieces of content continuously, every patch, as player power continues to increase. understandably, there’s a limit to how much time they want to spend doing that for the few people who just have to have everything.

Just remember, the very first recycle labeled as ‘new content’ came with turning the epic 40-man Naxxramas into a lackluster easier 20-man/10-man version in Wrath of the Lich King. I was always against that move. It should have been a new and different necropolis with new and different baddies.

Yes it would be quite challenging. I have thought about this more than is productive. I think they would need to have a tuning knob for damage, health, etc that they could tweak every season that would apply to all old content. Some content obviously wouldn’t fit into this well, but the more they can do, the better.

I’ve never played it but I hear FFIX does something like this. I don’t know how it works under the hood, but my understanding is that they are able to go back and do old raids.

I was doing some mog runs a few weeks ago and it is striking to me how much effort went into each of these raids, and now they only get experienced from people killing everything in one hit

true, and a lot of people here want it that way. there’s no single setting that will make everyone happy. the transmog farmers want to be able to kill every boss with an autoattack. i really think this is a place where there’s just no way for blizzard to please everybody.

It’s something, but it damn sure isn’t FOMO. I haven’t touched what I didn’t enjoy the first time, I spit on the rewards. /hawktua

I think if they were to add a timewalking difficulty setting to all the old raids that would be pretty good. As long as it was its own setting, and the others weren’t removed

I can’t believe they brought back visions when they suck so much. Can’t wait for the 12.1.5 patch for the next expansion when they bring back Torghast.

it being linked to making legendaries was prob the real issue

long story short?

  • All content on the normal difficulty (except the ARR 8-man raids) is queuable and sorted into “roulettes” based on type. The pools are large, covering all expansions. Max level players can join, and get currency as a reward.
  • Timewalking is the default method when queuing for content. You are leveled down to match the content, including (temporary) loss of abilities; there is no “talent” system to give differ loadouts for each class, msking this possible.

FFXIV is designed from the ground up with evergreen in mind, though low participation for content outside roulettes can make them challenging to do after they’re no longer current. However, that’s the only major issue, and is mitigated by the party finder tool.

It seems like they understand the value of the work they put in to make that content and want to keep it relevant.

I think Blizzard is catching on that they have already created a ton of value in old content. They just need to learn to not try to push people into it with time-limited rewards

You jumped in with this claim that Horrific Visions were limited time without any proof whatsoever.

Like you said the achievements have “during” in them, despite none of the Horrific Vision achievements using that word.

It’s pretty clear that you didn’t do any actual research into Horrific Visions, but you decided to get angry at Blizzard anyway for something you imagined them doing. Now you’re getting angry at others for pointing out the lack of research on your part.

Are you OK? You seem upset

You’re the one getting angry over something that’s not happening. So are you OK?

If done properly, yes please! Torghast is horrible in it’s current form and Warfronts were meh. Islands return could be interesting as well.

You’re the one that just threw that temper tantrum. No, I’m not angry. You’ve given me a bit of comedy for the day, I appreciate it

I can’t wait for the term “FOMO” to be FOMOed

I wonder what the next buzzword will be.

People will not stop complaining about FOMO until the only FOMO in the game is AOTC and CE. Even then, people will complain

Please stop throwing a temper tantrum at me

I like it. Can you please throw a temper tantrum at me? Ideally please blame me for being angry while you yourself get super angry

there is no FOMO in the game at all. FOMO exists within people, not video games.
