Look at my history if you must. When the demo released I was very negative. I am no longer negative and doubting of this Classic WoW team.
I believe they should finish up internally polishing their product. Make the remaining decisions that need to be made based on feedback you have read. You clearly know the pulse of the community to a reasonable degree. The things you feel MUST be compromised on…fine.
I have come to realize that there is no PERFECT/one size fits all approach to each of these gameplay decisions. Sometimes you must pick a path and go. Sometimes there is no wrong or right answer.
I am ready to play. Release the game. I trust you enough to finish this up.
I think a lot of people worried about the demo considering they said summer 19. For me I didn’t like the amount of regen. Ion on stage said they felt like they needed more regen because they had to sit and eat too much. That was a problem for me. A part of vanilla is having to sit and eat/drink after a pull or 2. I think they started us out at too high of a level for the demo. I was out there killing defias after defias without having to stop because by time I was at the next one my hp was full again. It was like I was still in a starting area… that’s the only place your hp should fill up fast and that’s because you don’t have a lot lol.
There are also people who have had little to no faith since then and you couldn’t convince them otherwise. Some people don’t come here and see the updates as often as we do so I’m sure some don’t even know about the updates yet.
I trust this team to take the easiest way out possible. The minute they stray away from 1.12, they need to do work. Otherwise, “staging” releases is nothing. It’s kind of like a canary release with a bunch of feature flags.
It is by definition, a demonstration of their progress. A sample if you will. Based on what was presented, there was certainly justified cause for concern.
That said, everything we’ve heard (with the exception of sharding and 1.12 AV) seems pretty good if it holds up.
Honestly if you’d have told me 10 years ago we’d actually be doing this, I wouldn’t have believed it. I never thought Blizzard would react to the oldschool community in such a meaningful way, and I’m sure I’ll be happy to play Classic even if it is slightly different/tweaked. I look at what dissatisfies me about the current game and I’m ready to go back pretty close (started when BC was still optional) to the beginning, when we sure were having a lot of fun even if it was less streamlined. I’ll reiterate the journey was as much or more fun than the destination. Totally different from “you really want that level boost don’t you” retail mentality.
I mean… if you want to go by that logic then on any game anything (Alpha etc) are a demonstration of their progress - it doesn’t mean you should be concerned?
I guess I just don’t understand the concern when it’s not being billed as a final example.
I mean sure …final project. I get it. But there’s no reason a triple A game maker couldn’t put out a demo that more closely resembles what they’re going for in the end. If I turn in a progress report to my boss that looks nothing like the outline I submitted, of course they should be worried.
He did not say this. I’m not sure what this guy is smoking. Unless he is taking this really out of context, like if he said “People don’t remember vanilla and thought that they needed more regen because…”
I don’t know, AV 1.12 is a pretty big deal and the fact that 1.12 PvP Weapons will be technically available before even BWL is released is also a bit worrisome.
They have announced some great things, but still too many topics have not been addressed so far. I have put too much faith and trust in Blizzard before, I am not yet willing to trust them so easily because they made a couple of announcements
I guess it depends on your POV - I think it was a pretty good recreation. Were a few things off? Sure - but I don’t think it was anywhere near as bad as what some people are claiming it to be.
I noticed the region, and a few bugs that I had submitted - other than that I was extremely pleased with the demo - a little concerned about the region at the time, but was fairly confident that would be addressed (and it was)
