Okay...I now trust this team

Congratulations on figuring out how to become a rational person and to see things from a perspective other than your own. Hopefully others have this revelation as well.

For what it’s worth. I trusted you Classic guys from day 1 on the announcement of Classic in 2017. The way Brack said that: “Fans of WoW around the world we hear you!”. Someone who doesn’t care at all can’t say it like he did that day. Classic panel at recent blizzcon multiplied this feeling by 10x. Thanks again Blizzard for this!

As long as they can prove that they’ll turn it off after the rush I’ll be okay with it.

I began trusting the team after the last Blizzcon. It was the only real passion I saw on stage there. There was genuine excitement and focus, instead of the glossy eyed script reading I saw elsewhere. I knew then that this was a labor of love and we would be getting the best the Classic team could offer.

This right here. I honestly don’t understand all the paranoia behind this anymore. Don’t get me wrong, when they announced it I was SUPER excited but at the same time I was thinking “Oh god…what are they going to do to the game I love though”. But then the last blizzcon showed me that they were taking this thing 100% serious. At the very least it showed me they were taking it WAY more serious than what I expected them to do.

And you’re right classic was the only game during blizzcon where I got the feeling that they were excited to talk about it and show what they have done, all the other games were the same ole same ole

“Look at this cool new feature we have…”

“And with our patch 10406.531 we will introduce sparkles on your gear woohoo”

Out of curiosity what was the final turning factor?

I’ve been fairly trusting that once Blizzard said they’d do it, they’d provide a far better recreation than any private server ever could, with the reliability that my account wouldn’t be deleted in 6 months anyway.

OP is Fickle. As long as Blizzard remains with Activision nothing about WoW is safe and I have 0 trust of the dev team.

So far, I’m excited by the commitment the team has demonstrated to actually bringing in a “Blizzard-level Classic experience” they touted during the OG reveal.

I’m not even concerned about starting-zone sharding. They could leave that on until the end of time as far as I’m concerned. Who cares how many instances of Northshire Valley or Valley of Trials there are? If you want to base your entire experience of Classic on the first 2 hours of gameplay… You might be looking at the wrong game, heh.
Also: They never stated that the sharding would be cross-server, so it would still be lowbies from your own server, then as soon as you stepped out into Elwynn or Durotar, you’re all clumped. Doesn’t matter to me.

As for the negativity over the AV version and the PVP items… I honestly couldn’t care less. Getting good PVP gear is a huge grind, so all the power to hte people who actually pull it off, as for AV… I never felt attached to multi-day BGs.

It all boils down to a simple question: Does the offer of Classic, as the devs have put it forward, sound better than Retail? If it does sound better to you, then you need to focus on the fun things to return to, instead of standing off to the side, pointing and screaming at the things that might not be 100% #nochanges.

Classic is going to be a really great time, stop focusing on how much chlorine is in the pool and jump in.

See you in Ironforge!

A negative person on the internet!? No way I don’t believe it.

Glad they have your blessings, whatever nothing that’s worth.

Irony at its best.

And then, several months down the line after releasing classic when you least expect it, BAM! Stealth add sharding all zones.

If you don’t trust Blizzard to do it right, why do you care?

So… you think Blizzard will add sharding everywhere after the large population drop off that Classic will undoubtedly see…? Do you know what sharding is?

I think they will shard only the starting zones for a brief window.

But I am still leery about what actiblizz means by that.

They might have just 6-7 servers set up at launch, and if the total population remains too high, servers will be required to shard to function.

In other words, sharding the “launch” and “starting zones” might be completely based on population count vs time estimates…

There shouldn’t be a “one size fits all” approach. It should be a “classic size fits vanilla players” approach.

Classic isn’t for everyone. It shouldn’t try to please everyone. It needs to appeal to 1 demographic and 1 demographic only.

Comparing the blue posts in these forums to general discussion, it feels like theres 2 different dev teams and this one is better. I’m so glad Activision doesn’t have any interest in ruining Classic WoW.

Can confirm ion never said this, guy on drugs.

There is two different dev teams. My guess is that since Classic WoW isn’t considered a major frontline release, there is probably very little pressure for it to perform financially so they’re more or less just leaving the team to it.

They keep calling it a “passion project” more than anything.

Though I feel like all the Warcraft teams just lack energy at Blizzcon compared to Chris Metzen.

That guy had great stage presence.

Oh god I remember being in the middle of a yeti cave trying to farm that last xp bar only to run out of food and bandages. At that you point you have to live off the land and get by on what drop you can and hope you have good cooking, or find another player and be a mooch for some food.

If they have that few, the game is already destroyed.
