Ok, who still DOESN'T want the ripcord pulled and why?

Ironic that that is exactly what you are requesting? Taking everything away from it and only having it as a trash talent system?

About as hard to understand as having a choice between how player power is distributed is for others I’d imagine.

this crap is important to them. like really really important. they spend so much time doing things i never would over a literal fraction of a percent increase in throughput. at this point to save their collective sanity i wouldn’t even care if they just decided to scrap the entire system. this is a GAME. it’s important to try to keep that in perspective.

reading through this thread? -.-

Yeah, I don’t get 10k$ tour-de-france bikes either when you don’t enter. But I don’t belittle an individual’s focus in the sport.

I don’t.

Because I’m a contrarian.

it won’t hurt me either way. i’ve ignored almost every single borrowed power thing they’ve ever put into the game until they do the inevitable catch up mechanics. but i also don’t play competitively. i say so, as well. if you’re gonna snark me because of that or because i say WQ alts don’t need to be in BiS then i’ll snark back, but in general i get the frustration. for mains that people push content on.

you look like a nelf to me, buddy.

Pretty crazy, especially when 90% of it is more just “I read this on a site” without necessarily understanding the reasons or implications.

Its not something that can happen, so there isn’t really much to discuss.
They would have to redesign the entire system to accommodate it, and perhaps it would be worth the time doing, but I don’t see it.

In this theoretical scenario purely though, my answer is simple.
I love Night Fae. I love being a Night Fae as well.
Everything about it, including the spells and cosmetics.

It was a difficult choice to make though. It was not good for me, and many still think its not a viable option, but I have found success with it.

However, because it is such a difficult choice, I am afforded the luxury of being able to make that decision with marginal consequence on the grand scale.

If they did “pull the ripcord” and everything was tossed into one blender and you can pick any soulbind with any ability and anything else, the decision would then be an easy one to make and not make, and I would feel far more forced into picking the one everyone else tells me I need to make than the one I want to make.

Went through the same thing with Corruption and essences in BFA twice.
When they were both hard to get, I used a build that I found fun and powerful.
When they became very easy to get I was constantly questioned and often mocked for not running full versatility.

It was more appealing to me when it required commitment and dedication, because that is what I do best.

It would be less appealing if all that was removed simply so people wouldn’t have to regret their wrestling with min/maxing.

Not the best answer, but that is my thinking on the matter.

It be too much work and cost should be high. That main reason not being done. Second is they just mess it up somehow.

I want the ripcord pulled.

As to the people saying that it’ll mean everyone just chases BiS - you’ve got it so backwards.

You can literally assume peoples covenant right now, just by knowing their spec. You’ll be right 95% of the time. Because changing is punishing.

If they pulled the ripcord, you’d see a lot more diversity in both specs and covenants.

The less popular specs are getting absolutely hammered right now. Because, unless you’re a die-hard fan of that spec - you’re even less likely to play it if your covenant isn’t good for it.

There’s simply no good logical reason to keep it restricted. It’s dumb.

people think that xyz is holding them back and they’d be a tier 1 player if only-

none of us will ever be at that level of play on the forums (bar some of the actual mythic/glad tier players who do post to try to help out and usually actively tell people to not worry about this stuff)

they’re the same people that take out that frustration on others who they view as “inferior” and also as what’s “holding them back.”

i’m not trying to pass judgements. but to them the game is not a game. it’s… something else.

i’ve ranted and raved the last few days about io and stuff. but honestly? i think it’s a be careful for what you wish for thing. and they’re about to “get” it. we’ll see how long before the whole system collapses.

there’s one person in this thread who is obviously off their rocker and a prime example of… well…

i still want groot selfies, sir. i did NOT forget. XD

It is not, for one very simple reason.

Not everyone find meanings in the same places.

A good RPG doesn’t force issues. It presents opportunities so players can make their own meaning where they please. I am not playing WoW because it’s an “RPG”. There are much better RPG games out there. I play it for the gameplay, for the raid, for the PvP, for the combat, and sometimes for the stories. And as such, since I do not find meanings in what’s forced onto me, I simply stop caring about everything else as well.

My not wanting the ripcord pulled comes down to not wanting to farm another 40 soon to be 80 levels of renown on another 3 covenants. This is the first expac in a while that allows us to simply raid log without daily chores to do or a hamster wheel to keep running. Lets not mess with that

Honestly, I picked my Covenant because the Night Fae let me be a theatre fairy… and I’m a theatre fairy in real life so…

…so, just to clarify. You think its a good thing that people who want to be the best they can be in raid are shafted in PvP or mythic plus? This is a good thing to you? Discouraging participation by forcing a disadvantage on people?

the idea is to make min/maxing a thing again. but at this point everyone wants to max/max. you choose to be stronger in certain areas and not as strong in others. it’s typical rpg stuff.

I’m aware of what they were going for, but the systems are garbage. They should have made the covenants purely cosmetic. I’m playing a warlock, right now, as a main. I’m raiding mythic and pushing 15+ keys with him.

Luckily, my best covenant is the same for both of those…but, its night fae. I hate it. I hate it thematically, and wouldve FAR preferred going venthyr, but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my DPS to do so. Its garbage. We should have never been forced to choose between power and aesthetics.

my warlock is demo and necro. i give zero hecks about maxing anything, obv. i play what’s fun. this is the one bone they’ve thrown players like me vs making the entire game for players like you. the thing is though i don’t care about the spells at all. i just wanted the covenant choice itself to have meaning. they’re doubling down on all the wrong things and doing everything they possibly can to piss everyone off, at this point.

But, how is it throwing you a bone? How would the system have affected you at all if the covenants were cosmetic and the abilities each reskinned for every covenant and offered as a talent row? If anything, this would diversify your gameplay. You could think up fun new builds for torghast, swap your signature to be more mobile for world quests and the maw.

I just dont see being locked to a single ability as a win, and I never really will. Restrictions have never done it for me, I’d really rather have the freedom to dictate my own game experience, and covenants in their current incarnation dont allow me to do so.
