Ok, who still DOESN'T want the ripcord pulled and why?

For sure, WOD could have been a great expansion but they flopped it on purpose, because hey, small indie company right?

No it is male and he made about half of the threads asking representation

This is true but all through beta Ion was going we don’t want a meta or just one meta for each class. Freeing up the abilities may have still resulted in a meta ability but you could of had any covenant look you wanted. A lot of us wanted the abilities separated because we liked the possibility of multiple metas for classes .

I… just don’t care.

I have one character at level 60. iLvL maybe ~160.

At this point I don’t care one way or the other what Blizzard does.

A year from now they’ll have figured things out and I’ll deal with whatever is in place at that time. Until then I have other stuff to do.

Sure, I’m just saying it COULD be done. They just don’t want to do it.

Oh fair, I just ignore all those posts after making sure they have been flagged lmao.

No, they know it would take too much effort and result in this expansion being tossed in the trash like WoD due to a lack of content while they redesign a core system.

perhaps it would be for the best…

I’ve been saying since before launch all they had to do is make a conduit to make the class abilities work with any covenant and had the general abilities as zone only.

We know but doesn’t mean we are not going to stop trying . Kind of like how I will never stop trying to get a version of range survival back into the game.

Funny, I thought the WoD zone abilities was a much better system than the crap we have now.

I am not sure I follow?

None of those abilities make or break someone. Covenants should have been for storyline and cosmetics and small perks. The secondary abilities are supposed to be just that.

No, they had to integrate flying into the game and did not have time to do anything else. The same would happen here if they “pulled the ripcord.”

That’s one idea, mine was having a universal soulbind for each covenant (so everyone would get Pelagos for example for Bastion, Niya for Nightfae etc).
And then have players using that soulbind having their covenant abilities changed to reflect the covenant of their soulbind. (Basically just have the abilities tied to the soulbind instead of the covenant choice)

I guess I see it as a “meaningful choice” in the same way I see race played as a meaningful choice. Different races have different abilities. Sometimes you pick a race because of their ability - others you pick aesthetics over those abilities.

It is not a perfect anology because the race based abilities aren’t game changing but it is similiar. Ultimately, it just doesn’t bother me. A lot of games I play have you making choices. Some good, some bad and unless you want to start all over you live with those choices. It doesn’t bother me in those games either so why would it bother me in this one?

Which is fine for those second abilities for the Covenants. But not the main “talents.”

A lot of the issues with WoD was due to them trying to get Legion out a year after WoD launched but were unable to.

Wait what? They have said they left an entire raid tier out to focus on Legion. They abandoned WoD to work on Legion…

pfft casual. i bet you made a ton of gold off your alt army and did multiple mission tables, willingly.

I would like to see the abilities come as talents. There are a few dead talents that are very seldom chosen and I think that some of the covenant abilities would be really fun to take with me beyond Shadowlands.

I think that they’re not going to do something like this, unfortunately, because that would be a lot of work. And I suspect that things are planned far in advance (like covenant-specific legendaries) and changing things now means they have to change a lot of other things that were probably decided for the future.

One drawback of working ahead is that you can’t get feedback from the future. Hopefully, they’ll respond to the feedback people have been giving since the Beta (which I think is just an ad) in 9.3 :man_shrugging:

There is no ripcord. There never was one.

By saying covenants need to be changed because they force people to choose a specific covenant for the ability is saying the lack of choice due to power is a negative one correct?

By “pulling the ripcord” you are actually just promoting that negative design. Now instead of making one choice you are forced to pick the powerful choice for each encounter, not only that but it would be expected.

You simply increase the so called negative interaction of making that choice once and turn it into something you are forced to do daily.

That would of worked too .

I still think the system they were worried about is the if we make it easy for them then how do we keep them farming system .
