All these hardcore guilds that just did the World First race seemed to get along fine without it.
I like not having ML for guild raids. No more favoritism by the person who controls the loot. No more having to listen to the people who don’t get it complain about it.
The only thing they need to fix is that I should be able to trade any loot I don’t want, even it it might be a higher ilvl. My loot should = my decision. Although I guess if they did that, then the people running the raids would probably start threatening to kick people if they didn’t give up their loot.
The reality is if you don’t like master looter, and prefer personal loot, you have to quit the game. Because if Master Looter is an option majority of groups will use it because they will claim it’s the best way to get gear. It’s not worth the hassle to try and find a guild willing to use PL if that’s your preference. You won’t find them and if you do chances are they will be really bad. Group scarcity is a real concept in this game. IT’s unreasonable to pretend that you can easily go some place else to find what you’re looking for. If the community perceives even the smallest advantage to using master loot, nearly everyone will insist on using it and finding groups using PL will not be worth a players time.
Or they could just hit up the Group Finder where Forced PL was enforced on pug groups.
The solution is this:
Make it so that any gear piece with a higher ilevel is clearly better than the lower ilevel piece.
This is really a tuning issue.
If the higher ilevel gear was actually better then the recipient would use the gear. When higher ilevels are not actually upgrades you have this problem.
I feel bad for lashing out like that. I apologize.
Actually I’ll just delete it and be a nice friendly gnome.
You don’t understand what I’m saying. When majority of the community switches to master looter because it’s perceived as the min-max way to go, the ability to find groups willing to us PL is very hard. Of course there are some guilds and groups that will use PL, but they represent a minority of the community and it’s no where close to 50/50 on ML/PL groups.
Yes I misunderstood what you were saying. I’m sorry for being rude.
Heroic and down, I don’t think I’ve ever once seen a guild use ML for those difficulties. It’s always been personal loot cuz its just heroic/normal.
Mythic is different, as it requires more careful consideration of everything to clear content fast enough to get CE, whether it’s at Method’s pace or you got CE the last potential night it was possible. That doesn’t matter. Mythic is all about Team > Player. The other difficulties it doesn’t matter.
And you’re right, there are PL only guilds out there for sure. I’ve seen many people on the forums say they are in them. I think even in this thread people have said that exact thing. And there’s always starting your own guild/raid team, just like every raid team began, mythic or not, in the history of this game.
Still you have to regard who you play with. In 14 years, 8 of which I spent raiding, I never had any problem with ML. That may be because we faithfully used SK as our loot distribution. No crying, no drama, just good clean fun and everyone got to get something – maybe not all in the same week, but eventually.
I don’t care either way, it doesn’t effect me.
I’m cool with getting rid of master loot, but it would be nice they had built in functionality for you to post an item that you won up for roll instead of after every kill 2 to 3 people taking turns saying if you need [x] roll.
That’s a really good idea.
Good luck getting masterloot back, we tried this same argument for flight and look at what we got as a compromise… just wait 1 year until everything you need flying for to no longer be relevant then you can have it.
So I guess they already jumped right to that step with loot trading in its current form.
Adding my voice to the chorus. Please, Blizz. Bring back Master Looter. As a GM, it pains me to see upgrades go wasted among my people because they can’t trade anything due to these absolutely nonsensical trading restrictions. It’s fine if you don’t want it in pugs, but guilds should have every right to run their guild groups as they see fit.
We used master looter. We had a transparent system. We gave people loot they deserved. You said it yourself you swung too far in the direction of RNG rewards in the Q&A at Blizzcon. This is one of those instances. Please help guilds.
While ML wouldn’t really be my preference, I dont see why adding it as an option isn’t viable. More options the better…
For all I know that in times past Master Loot (ML) was used to best determined who needed an item from the raid and if it was an upgrade then it should by rights go to the person that could use it.
I find Blizzard’s reasoning really bizzare at this point because nowadays reports of the same item dropping and you can’t trade it or it’s soul bound does no good to the person that got it in the first place. So, here we are stuck with a system that’s poimtless and making raiding less fun for all.
Master loot created tremendous drama and no one actually believed that personal loot was more efficient. Blizz did a smart thing in my opinion.
Gone are the days of joining an ML loot pug and getting your gear ninja’ed.
Good riddance in my opinion.
Except people could have just gone to the Group Finder and found a pug that wasn’t a guild group. That’s their own fault if that happened.
Welp it’s gone now.
Also, way too many people were getting ninja’ed.
