Oil Stain removed from Wolf Pets in 8.2?

Tamed back in 2010 for it’s unique oil stained look. Never used it in Arenas or Timewalking dungeons. Suddenly, it’s appearance has been removed. Totally bummed about this. Submitted a ticket but doubt it’s gonna be fixed.

Same here. also noticed that my armored ghost boar from Razorfens is no longer a ghost.

Update: Blizz’s unacceptable response - "I am Game Master Lassirraste, Master Warlock, Lord of Demons, Terror of the Nether, Snuggler of Kittens and I am here to help.

Thank you for getting a hold of me with your question about your oil stained wolf. I can understand how important these individual looks can be since I play a hunter myself. Losing one is a pain especially when you worked so hard on it.

In this case with the Oil Stained wolf it was a look you werent really supposed to have. The look itself was from a buff that was supposed to go away on taming. You had to do a specific set of things to get around this and it is not guaranteed or promised on the pet. Since its not supposed to stay I can not restore it for you.

However, I have a way to get the look back. We know how popular that look was so we introduced a way to put it on EVERY pet if you want to. Then it can go any where including Arenas and BGs.

Go get some of this and you can apply it to any pet you want. Its cheap to get and you can keep a lot of it! Enjoy!"

It’s a temporary similar appearance that would require purchase or farming and bag space. Totally unacceptable.

Blizzard is all about nerfing fun any and everyway they can. Over the years I have lost so many “unintentional” tamed pets… they removed everything unique about the pets already in game. Its stale

Update #2:
Specialist Game Master Tuzlarhan here, or Tuz for short.

While I understand your sentiment for this oil covered wolf. Finding such a unique way to tame a pet while keeping the npcs unique aura isn’t easy. Typically whenever an npcs is obtained the aura from it falls off. The thing you discovered though is a bug. That is why it doesn’t stick when entering specific areas of World of Warcraft. The pet is not meant to have that oil covered fur. I can’t be certain since I am not a developer, but I would hedge my best that because the look was so loved our developers added the Machine Fluid.

I don’t see why keeping the unique oil aura is not okay, but I know it isn’t intended. To be completely honest, nothing can even be done to return that unique aura to your wolf. The game will always remove it in certain situations to it not ever meaning to function the you got it to work.

I’ll work on sending up some more feedback to our developers about this situation and if you could make a forum post about this it would be very helpful. Our developers read over the forums daily so any feedback submitted won’t fall on deaf ears. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/community/general-discussion Hopefully we’ll see some changes come in the future so you can have an oil soaked wolf at all times.

While I’m unable to help I still hope you’ve had a great day so far. If there is anything more that you may need help with in the future, please feel free to contact us again. I wish you luck and take care.

Didn’t they assure us they wouldn’t touch our special tames as long as they weren’t game breaking?
Pretty sure I remember hearing that.
Now I’m scared to check my Oil Stained Wolf and my Sha Tiger.

It’s not a new thing. This has been going on since 3.0

Lost mine a few expansions ago, they promised I would get it back.

I’m still waiting!
