Trying to do the quest for Benediction and the best strategy involves using the oil of immolation, which is supposed to have a 3-second cooldown that allows it to be used frequently. However, when used, it cannot be used again, at all, until dying (or presumably until exiting combat). I’m going to probably have to respec to holy for nova just to complete this because of this issue. what’s the deal?
Oil of immolation takes far too long to kill the skeletons in my opinion to make it worthwhile.
I understand you are looking at this in the sense of bug report, I tried these and found them to be ineffective at doing enough damage fast enough.
I feel they tick every 3 secs for a small amount that isnt enough to kill the skeletons even after two ticks, skeletons do a lot of damage in that time that you likely are going to have to heal. I even tried with fire elixir to try to increase the damage, still garbage damage imo.
Usage of either crystal charge , stratholme holy water, engineering explosives of some kinds combined with the lowest rank of holy nova required to one shot the skeletons and trying to ensure you group the skeletons well prior to use is one part of the strategy that I used.
Some people use the mechanical yeti from the winterspring quest which apparently will wreck the skeletons with ease. note this is a 3 times usage only item that cannot be reobtained
So the yeti should be not used until you know you have your talent spec gear and strategy very well sorted .
Make a druid friend and have Mark of the wild + thorns., have all full buffs in fact ( i was picking everything i could including world buffs ) Int spirit shadow prot ( to reduce dark rune damage). use nightfin for the mp5
Have dark runes ,only use major mana pots , use these early and on CD,
If you can use your wand to get some out of casting regen while you do damage .
i found i was actually able to get out of combat in some attempts and drink momentarily too. anything you can do to get out of the 5sec casting regen mode for as long as possible will help.
If you feel you are close then its time to break out the yeti , and bombs crystal charge
Another option is to invest in a wisdom flask for the extra 2k mana, the staff is worth it.
Sorting out the correct ranks of nova, flash heal renew and possibly pw:s and having these spells bound to keys you can use almost without thinking will help you.
Running a recommended talent setup is also recommended to make this easier.
At lower gear levels this quest is challenging, do all you can .
i would also suggest arthas gift.
any pots you can get. including armor pots. mana pots. int buf pots. grab a food buff. and grab a gordok alcohol buff. get druid MOTW and thorns on you. and pali kings. hit strat a few times and go with a handful of holy water.
get some EZ throw dynamite that anyone can use. snag an ony buff or DMN tribute buff for good measure. or even the felwood buffs. and E’ko’s.
That’s some big overkill. It’s a pretty easy quest.

This sort of response is of no value to anyone, doesn’t address the oil of immolation CD, doesn’t assist them to get the quest done, absolutely pointless.

I completed the quest, it’s pretty easy with holy nova. That’s not really the issue here.
The issue is Oil of Immolation triggering an unending CD after using it. We used to use it in AB to disrupt flag captures. The item not working properly is going to cause some issues down the line.

Oil of immolation isn’t a potion, elixir or flask.
If there was an issue with oil of immolation thousands of raiders would of reported it, including myself.
