Oh noes, the sacred temple of WOTLK Classic has been defiled!

by the WoW Token. Here’s a newsflash for you, it was a bot-infested mess in which everyone and their brother bought gold illegally before the token. I left it to play Classic Era Hardcore months ago because I couldn’t do a 70-79 bg without playing mainly with and against bots.

If you want to experience the real spirit of Classic WoW, play hardcore where you skin boars from 1-10 for 5 silver to buy a 6 slot bag and are really happy when you get it. But as far as WOTLK Classic, I think the token can only help because most of these bots who were clogging up my bgs were owned by gold sellers. I may even return for an occasional bg there if it has the positive effect on botting that I expect it will.

You’re not thinking big enough: gear and crafting recipes. That’s the real money.

Just sell a boost after 2 months.

Careful, the classic andys are melting down and flagging post like this. Ive never seen such fragile people

General rule of HC is switch over to gathering at some point. Usually level 20 ish.

Nice for starter armours, yes. at some point not so much. As some of the good recipes will need AH items.

A skinner/lw is not making the buckles for some belts as an example. You pay the smiths on the AH for that non-HC. Or get a friend/guild mate to slide you that. Not an HC option though.

Realists know at some point they will die. Raw materials are more cost effective for profit. There is no selling the 20 items to level a bit on the AH. And at some point vendor is not paying so well for materials put in to get there.

That is a common view on it. Others…they grind them out. To each their own there.

Contrary to your misguided opinion, the WoW token will only make the botters stronger because now they token pays for their sub.

They will continue to sell RMT regardless of the token because bots don’t do anything but farm.

Adding the Gold Token was a way for Blizzard to get a cut of the bot farmer action; it was not a solution nor did it solve the issues in Retail.

In retail you don’t see bots as often because they’re hidden in their own shards and private instances.

TL;DR, its a cash grab that will unavoidably make the problems worse.

Is it helpful?
Is it nice?
Is it needed?
Is it carefully worded?

Things to consider before most people post on here.

Until now people deluded themselves that Blizzard would fix it. That delusion is gone. And the “go play Era” crowd is in for a shock when the gold sellers come calling. (Bloodsail may spontaneously combust.)

None of this by itself is devastating but it’s just more of a split between Blizz and their players.

Why would this impact bots at all? Sellers will just lower their prices, now they can pay for their bot accounts with left over in-game gold that isn’t selling, and blizzard will continue to do absolutely nothing while also raking in profits via the wow token.

Other people have different opinions, this is a great change. Now go on and flag the post lol

Well when you treat a symptom and not the root cause of the issue stuff gets out of hand. If Blizz would have started permanently banning buyers from the start it would have never gotten this bad.

Hey mr hardcore. The wow token does nothing to combat bots and all it does is making things more expensive, forcing people to waste money on wow tokens to even afford stuff and getting milked by the company.

You aren’t the brightest star around here. I hope you don’t die to boars.

If you think there wont be paypigs buying gold in hardcore, and botters farming in it, i have a bridge to sell you.

You cannot eliminate bad faith gamers paypigging for advantages in games without active GMs policing it at the very least, we have a handful of GMs working on AI algorithms only to purge botters, nothing more, its nowhere near enough and will never be.

The Classic experiment is over imo. Cata will prolly have unlimited boosts to go with the token. It’s just retail 2 now. All of Blizzards communications, integrity, and good game design, is going into Dragonflight.

The Lich King, once feared, now stood in dismay,
As the WoW Token’s power began to sway.
In the hallowed lands of Northrend’s might,
The Classic’s essence trembled, bathed in twilight.

For the token’s presence, it cast a shadow,
Over the memories held, where heroes once bellowed.
The sanctity of old, a fragile thread,
As the token’s influence spread, like whispers unsaid.

Nostalgia clashed with progress, hearts torn asunder,
As the Classic’s purity faced a relentless plunder.
The memories of yore, lost in the abyss,
As the token’s might persisted, a merciless twist.

The token came into play at the tail end of phase 2 after months of Ulduar burnout…

If you didn’t have gold stacks already you were either a new player or a scrub… These are the people who will benefit from this the most…

Meanwhile anyone who was using RMT before the token has more choices. The legit player who is not getting gold in that manner has new players and scrubs to buy their wares (because resources remain limited) and everyone wins…

You dont have to worry, if they do they will just appeal it
