Is there a big Oceanic PvP scene? I’ve seen a lot of posts asking to be merged with US servers for PvP.
Anyway, if it’s noticeable for you, I won’t argue that. It wasn’t really for me, but I wasn’t PvPing.

Australian internet is appalling. Slow speeds and unreliable infrastructure. When we played BGs with US realms a couple of years ago, yes, for those of us on the East coast of Australia the MS would sit around 180-200ms. However there are frequent spikes up to 6-800 for no reason at all. Players on OUR west coast have an additional 150ms or so added, so the best they can possibly get to a west coast US server is 350.
Not advocating for an OCE fresh as it would be DOA.
But comparing Australian internet to South Korean internet is completely irrelevant.
Before oce servers I played wow with 450-600 ping depending on peak times. I do not want to go back. Sub 80 constantly now
We were not given any notice as Oceanic players that there wouldn’t be a server for us. Players who did not play TBC were hoping for Fresh and with the announcement of fresh many of us did not level on the existing servers. We are now even further behind than we were months ago.
Please just one Oceanic server I don’t even mind what type of server it is!
Yeah, I thought about that after. You’re totally right. S. Korea is a much smaller country with excellent Internet infrastructure.
Yeah exactly this. A few of us who have been playing stopped with anticipation for fresh and a few others who were only waiting for wotlk decided not to prepare for it because fresh was dangled infront of us
Fresh Expansion, Fresh Server! I am shocked they wouldn’t just spin us up a new server. If it does end up low pop then so be it I accept those odds! We all just want to start fresh for wrath without contending with a million ping going across the sea and then across the USA to finally get to a US East server
Literally the boat me and my friends are all in - and the gold inflation on arugal is insane
My and my friends were hyped to play on a fresh server again and race to 70 before wrath launched.
I skipped most of TBC and don’t really see the appeal on playing on a massively gold inflated server. My friends haven’t played since classic phase 2.
It’s going to be a fresh server or my friends aren’t going to play.
There are not enough OCE players for it… OCE has barely enough for 2x servers qnd its currently being spread thin over 3 servers
You are underestimating the amount of people coming back for Wrath, it’s the most fondly remembered of all the expansions.
This is based on numbers taken from the end of an expansion and before pre patch I’m guessing, you cant drop the bomb and say there wont be enough people because really you just don’t know that.
It’s all well and good if you have continued sustained play throughout TBCC, but if you haven’t you’re kind of f***ed.
Absolutely.
This completely blindsided me. I never expected that there wouldn’t be a Fresh Oceanic Server. I had based all my plans on rerolling Fresh Server. Now I’ll be faced with the prospect of playing on a US server for the first time in almost a decade. And I remember how terrible it used to be. Munted dps. Not being able to get interrupts off. Not being able to heal in case you got a lag spike.
Please Blizz, I’m asking you not to do this…
A lot of OCE players were waiting for “Fresh” and not preparing. Not going to lie this is a major kick in the teeth. It will be a major hinderance for us to play on US/EU. Just give us one server please Blizzard.
Pretty sad to see no communication since the announcement of Fresh and now no OCE servers at all. Blizzard, at least hold a poll to players on the current OCE servers to gauge interest? Give us a threshold or minimum vote to meet for the option of 1 Fresh server.
This is exactly my situation. I had basically stopped levelling alts and farming gold, because I expected I would be rerolling on a Fresh Server. I basically only played a couple of new characters up to about the level this character is to re-familiarise myself with the flow of levelling in the first few zones for races I intended to play on a Fresh Server.
It wouldn’t have mattered so much if there’d been some warning. But waiting until 3-4 days before pre-patch… I’m utterly screwed. I’ve got alts all over the place. I haven’t got the gold to play on an established server. And I wanted to reroll Horde (I’ve been playing Alli on Rem). If I’d known this was going to happen, I could’ve planned for it.
And I was so hyped for Wrath…
This sentiment is just flat out wrong. If you look at ironforge.pro OCE as a whole currently has ~14k active, raiding players. Arugal has just over 8k, Yojamba a bit under 4k, and Remulos just over 2k. As recently as TWO MONTHS ago, Arugal had almost 10k, Yojamba over 5k and Remulos over 3k. If even 10% of current, active OCE players had an interest in Fresh that would equate to a server roughly the size of Remulos.
If you take a wild guess and say an extra 10% of people who skipped Classic/TBC would join a Fresh start that’s an extra ~2000 people.
A server of 2-3000 is plenty to justify opening, especially when there are current US realms with <1000 people on them that are still open.
People views of a healthy pop server is so scewed because of 20k pop mega servers …
2k pop is more than enough, OCE definetly has the playerbase that will return for wrath fresh for a healthy single server
Sounds like a recipe for DEAD ON ARRIVAL
Yeah hopefully it’s a PVP server
