one thing i like about HC is that there are still unofficial “groups”, i.e. in westfall i kind of partnered with someone to take down those big gnoll camps. he would pull 4 of em and i would peel off 1-2. i would also toss him a couple heals to make sure he stayed alive. so yeah, there is still group gameplay, you just can’t be in an official group.
Shhh don’t tell the HC mods
I’m all for a new server for hardcore players, though I personally don’t see the appeal past 60. Sounds like a win - win to me. People that want HC get a dedicated server and content, while anyone that isn’t interested can just play classic era.
Technically, it’s against the rules to help like that. Not saying I haven’t participated in helping as well, but just don’t get mad if somebody refuses to help. They’re just trying to stick to the rules.
it’s against the rules to purposefully coordinate it in chat maybe, but if you just meet some dude out in the wild and do this, I don’t think that’s against anything
You mean the ones that played SoM and spoofed the SoI buff with WeakAuras because they died but wanted to raid? Or continue to create content?
I bet they love creative thinking.
If i wanted to play single player WoW I’d make my own sever
Wait, are you talking about the same guys that PTRd the raids off stream to make sure they did not die and looked legit??
This basically is why you will never see official hardcore servers.
It defeats the ENTIRE point of an MMO.
Multiple deaths defeats the purpose of the challenge.
There are a couple of small but active RP guilds hordeside. I don’t know about Alliance.
actually wouldn’t fear of having to delete and restart make you the pansy?
I’ve only just begun my HC journey in the last week, currently on my fourth attempt (just dinged 30 last night) and it’d be awesome to see official HC servers with the features of the addon implemented. Blizz could have the AH, trade & mail systems permanently disabled; remove the rez spells entirely from class trainers and any craftable items like the jumper cables that rez players; not allow players to enter dungeons outside the level range permitted & put a permanent dungeon lockout on their character once they’ve attempted/completed it; on non-pvp realms completely block the ability of being griefed by opposing faction players who like to get others flagged into pvp status & getting them killed that way (though opposing faction NPCs can still kill you if you aggro them yourself) and preventing same-faction griefing like what some warlocks like to do with their infernal by keeping only the warlock themselves & NPC mobs vulnerable until they control it; disabling the resurrect option upon character death & only giving the option to release as ghost or return to main menu so you can delete your character to leave their body in the world where they fell until server maintenance cleans up the dead bodies, etc.
The only rule should be Perma Death.
If you want to play Solo Self Found, or any other additional challenge, you should take that upon yourself.
100% agreed
What happens if a rogue aggros and vanishes or pally aggros and bubble hearths, then you are left there
That’s a non issue, you usually have enough time to run away.
The biggest grief on Hardcore players currently is the Kiting of Dragons halfway across the world to a Major City and Warlock’s Summoning Infernals ontop of lowbies who cant defend themselves.
These are probably the only 2 things that would need changes on an Official Hardcore server. For instance making the infernal Friendly to players on the PvE / RP server. And setting boundaries for the leash on dragons.
The Warlock Infernal is bad, we are on a non PvP server and a warlock griefer can kill his own faction. There’s nothing we can do about it and Blizzard has no intention of banning people as it has no Game Masters or moderation team for WoW Classic.
Sounds good.
Oh.
Then what about “if you want to play perma death, or any other additional challenge, you should take that upon yourself.”
This is what I meant about letting Blizzard decide which rules or changes should be made for a hardcore server. I believe death bringing you directly to the character screen where your hero is deleted is fine. That affects you and you alone. But changing the mechanics of classes to prevent use of certain abilities? All dangerous enemies are going to be leashed? That would be disappointing if Blizzard agreed to alter their game in such ways and made it so that specific classes or abilities were no longer useful or available which would have far reaching effects on other’s enjoyment of the game.
Forget hardcore and make more content for classic… make all the old raids, battlegrounds and zones that were suppose to be in the classic game… if you guys want to continue your hardcore add ons… enjoy.
I legitimately feel bad for the people who are playing the game normally. Saw someone spamming LFGuild (non HC) and they were totally drown out by the spam of HC players looking for HC guilds
