Seriously, how difficult would it be to implement a blocklist that if a name is deemed offensive ONCE, all characters with it are forced to a name change and the name is blocked permanently.
If they’re not going to put very much effort into policing this aspect of the game, they could at least automate the work they HAVE put in.
i mean i was going to say something about common sense but i feel i’ll be wasting my time, you seem like you are in the hyper minority. I mean i could be all like “do you go out much, do you have friends” because most people dont find the sort of things that you seem to feel is ok as actually “ok”.
Most people dont find conversation about other peoples genitals to be meaningful or even appropriate. Most people DEFINATELY do not find the act of abuse whether it be physical, mental or emotional to be appropriate. Most people dont find sexual innuendo’s to be appropriate either. Maybe within your key circle of friends you banter about that kinda stuff. But in public its just not socially acceptable and what you have to consider is that while “wow” belongs to a private company, its still social and its still publicly accessable to anyone who pays the USD access fee.
Keep your private inner circle banter to your inner circle and keep it out of everyone elses face and you’ll go far in the world
The best thing to do is just tune them out, report them and be done with it. I know it’s wow and generally people here have socialization issues, but come on.
You remind me of a sergeant I had many years ago. Took offense to my shirt description of “wife beater”. I laughed. Thought he was joking. Only other name for the shirt in Question was derogatory term for Italians.
Had no idea they were called tank tops. Thought that was a shirt ladies wore.
once, i got a 24h suspension for using the name tite laine on a toon, its french, not offensive at all, and yet some people got offended by that name and reported me
Thread reminds me of the time someone got reported for having the name “Peon”. The GM messaged the player and told them they would have to change their name.
It took the player schooling the GM on what a Peon actually is in WoW to make the GM go “Oh, uh, disregard.”
Yeeeeah, wife beater/tank top. I think it’s colloquial since I also call em wife beaters. For Italian…I’m not sure you’re talking about Spaghetti Strap or not? It’s the derogatory?
