Off Topic [Wotlk 2s]

I really enjoyed 2s in wotlk. I’ll probably enjoy 2s going forward into MoP, I didn’t have enough chance to play Cata due to IRL constraints, but anyways. A random question for those in the know.

What does Destro Rsham do well into for the Wotlk 2s meta?

For example, WPal, or SPR, or Preg DK, among these and other meta comps which counter it, what does it counter etc?

The more detailed a response possible the better.

I’m bored waiting for realms to come back up so please suffer along with my endlessly wandering mind.

I played it in wotlk but i played destro/ele much more, because it was much more fun.

It’s okay but be prepared for long games until you can get a kill window. Destro at least has the potential to get a kill by CCing two targets at once, seduce on one, fear on another. But it is very hard. And you will be fighting comps that just w key you the whole game and never let you cast anything.

Yeah, I didn’t get the chance to gear my lock in wrath but I expected a lot of being trained going into it.

Destro ele my spriest and I found a lot more managable due to the lack of earth shield / real healing and as you mentioned we could just W key they dlock really.

Good ones would capitalize on any aggro misplay we made tho and that could turn things around really quick.

Both variations will be suspectable to getting w-keyed.

The difference is with an ele you’ll sometimes be able to get kills by capitalizing on mistakes (gets harder obviously as you go up).

IMO , the rsham one I’d give 60:40 odds of beating double dps / specifically SPR. Just the nature of healer dps into a comp they have buttons to press into, and I’d turn that around 65:35 in favour of SPR into ele dlock from what I saw/experienced, but I want to learn more about the comp so I’d love to hear a breakdown.

In my experience SPR can / will OOM if the dlock/rsham just play slow and turtle rather than extending or risking anything outside of clean setups / cross cc. Obviously a clean W key go will kill the warlock but it’s exceedingly simple for the rsham/dlock to throw one of their many wrenches into the cogs and begin the mana war.

How was Dlock into Wpal ? Same thing? W key victim?

What are it’s strong matches? Mage priest or something?

Dlock was actually fairly good into warrior, especially once I started getting better at it (I hated warriors at the start). The main thing is you just play around their charges. Every time they charge, port or seduce or whatever to make ground or reposition. Then you have some time to react.

Mage/priest also fairly easy. Hardest I say was double rogue or rogue/feral. Just rogue makes a bad time, and two of them even worse

I currently play warlock on warmane, mostly aff

Usually with a rsham I play aff, you can play as destro and that’s stronger into melee specifically warriors, which is your main counter, but what you gain from that exchange you lose in overall pressure and setup potential because since you’re not with a Druid as destro I’ve found it can be difficult to land a cc chain long enough to reliably kill a target in a window depending on the comp, hex and shear are helpful in this regard though so you can definitely pull it off

I’d say your weaknesses will be whpal, dkhpal, maybe dpf depending on how good the feral is

You’re strong into most double dps with spr/spm being the exception, you probably beat most dpr as well although that’s a close match up
