Oct 9 Hunter changes, UPDATE - Aoe buffed more, still losing some ST

How do you accidentially nerf a class twice in 3 days which you admitted to wanting to remain “Neutral”

Its actually ludicrous from a billion dollar company

I agree. The defensive nerfs are only in pvp though so in Mythic plus, raids, delves, etc you don’t need to worry about it. In PVP though I felt like a complete live lord before the changes and there were many shuffle rounds or 2s where I didnt need to press turtle. I haven’t been able to play for about a week due to hurting my arm and it being in a sling but was at 2k mmr in shuffle and 1800 something cr last time I played. So I don’t think we will be in a bad spot imo in rated pvp.

You still nerfed us by 5% again. Also the AOE buffs do NOTHING!

What is your view on Frost Mage?

With secondary stats being extremely important in this game i would think they wouldnt go through with these changes. Most people are going to have to re gear almost everything they spent from week 1 attaining just to reclass to marksman cause bm will for sure be dead. How does blizzard think its okay to bring an A tier class to D tier in single target without any sort of way to get back time invested to reclass.

That only works if your BM is already the top dps in your guild. The guild I’ve been running with is usually dominated by a Ret pally or Frost Dk.

This aged like milk…

That math aint mathin.

Originally without PI it was a 9% buff. They added the 8% aura buff and its now a 5% nerf.

PI needs to be changed. Make it a Personal buff only. Nerfing us for a buff we don’t have ourselves is insanity.

Given that Basilisk Collar was fun to manage even in AoE (e.g., between Tyrannical bosses), I had really wanted to see this dealt with differently, especially in terms of our ability to benefit towards AoE purposes, ideally while still giving noticeable benefit towards DoT-stacking.

That is, I’d rather Basilisk Collar or any sort of stacked-DoT-fixated talent not be quite so obligatory for ST, more competitive for AoE even when only slightly OP or merely competitive for ST, but also significantly impactful to gameplay even after any due nerfs.

For (very rough) example:

Blood Hunt
You become enthralled in the bloodthirsty hunt. Your and your pet’s damage dealt is reduced by 5|10% but your enemies take 5|10% more damage from your pets’ attacks for each damage over time effect afflicting them and your own damage is increased by 5|10% for each of your active damage over time effects. This latter damage bonus increases with Mastery.

Damage bonuses decrease by 1|2% per additional contributing effect.

  • I’m having a brain fart as to whether Beast Cleave damage inherits damage bonuses from its primary target. Since it inherits crits, rather than having a separate crit chance each a la Improved Whirlwind or Merciless Blows, I’d assume so. If not, we’d buff the BC/KC portions by 5|10% (multiplicatively) per rank.
  • While this would even further increase the need for a DoT-focused build, it would at least drop Barbed Shot from contribution, therefore really just scaling damage with other, less constantly available DoTs, at an 8|14|18|20% cap — impactful without being quite so overwhelming.

I don’t know what to tell you. Go to the Hunter discord and read over the giant post from Azortharian. Or watch this video that explains what’s going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBafzu90NEE

They had an aura buff and a pet damage buff.

8% aura
4% pet to also 8% pet.

Honestly it’s just laughable at this point to see Blizzard shoot them selves in the foot with this and try to make it as a “mistake”. Even doing in doing so they still fail to comprehend the word neutral

I believe the pet damage is included in the 8% aura buff. Not in addition to it. At least that’s how people like Azortharian are explaining it.

It seems like it was just a poorly checked/written patch note that has created a lot of confusion.

It was an 8% aura buff and pet damage was originally buffed 4%. They buffed it by another 4% so a total of 8% aura and 8 pet damage.
The confusions the 8% pet damage AND 8% summoned pet damage.

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification.
