If its about balance and a better experience, surley the BG servers will be 50% OCE and 50% NA to make it fair for both regions right? right?

Was hoping to be able to play an Arena season with decent ping for the first time over 14 years of competing. If they’re going to merge us with NA at least lock it so we can only vs west coast servers. There was a reason that battlegroups existed. 170ms vs 250+ for me depending on the server.

As long as queues prioritize queueing OCE players into other OCE players, since our primetime is completely different to US primetime.
But honestly, I queue into US teams all the time, probably the majority of the time (any team above 2200 is likely to be from the US) and the ping doesn’t feel that bad.
They tried that once before and black flipped so hard when NA players complained that they gave themselves whiplash…
Legit can’t hit a mounted player with shadowstep now because they’re half a second away.
But yeah, no, this is totally fine.

To follow up my original post I too have cancelled my subscription. I had no plans to pve in TBC, thanks for the heads up on the change you absolute buffoons.
I played competitively in vanilla TBC and it was fine for the time, but we’ve had local servers for a decade. Why even bother having them if you aren’t going to use them for the most latency intensive part of the game.

I’m not OCE, but the feeling of playing on an OCE based group ping is BAD, and you want to force them on this in a competitive environment?

The difference is, these players that want fast ques, have an option. They can choose to play on a US server.
We don’t have that option!
Completely pathetic, the way this was implemented unannounced to the OCE Community shows they are completely aware of how much backlash they would have faced with a game breaking decision like this. I urge everyone to process a refund on their boosted character in light of this decision, to spur some moment in having it reversed.
I was so damn excited for Arena and this kills it COMPLETELY.

People aren’t thinking ahead to what happened in classic, where only the bonus weekend battleground has people queueing for it, and even then it might be 2-4 games. Everyone mad about how their ping is affecting their ability to rush Van in av but not thinking about how bad queues for bgs were in a lot of classic, let alone how bad they will be for arena
This will not make better Arena matchmaking because Americans will Have a clear advantage being on <10 ms. Oceanic will have enough players that want PvP gear/Gladiator titles/Rank 1 and much more for us to have our own Battlegroup.
The reason for Oceanic servers in the first place was to have a more competitive Raiding/PvP experience and with this change you will have destroyed any competitive Arenas. I’d rather wait 60 mins at a higher rating in Arena than to have my rating destroyed by versing Americans.
Bad change and completely not thought through. Where was our survey?! If it isn’t changed i will 100% cancel my subscription along with a lot of other PvP orientated people i’m sure of it!

That would be in a retail environment where the game pace is slower so the latency isn’t a noticeable. TBC arenas are fast.
