Yes it’s PTSD , It stemmed from grinding in Legion all the AP and Artifact relics which are now called Essences. Same turd but with more polish.

You think the game devs should put stuff in to stop people from playing the game? What are you even talking about?
If you can’t handle the fact that there is a some form of a grind in an MMORPG, you might want to move on to a different genre.
If polished meant removing the relics from a drop list in any type of content you wanted to play and put them into a system that would have you play content you didn’t normally do but also gave them really cool powers.
I try to play all 16 of my toons but I just can’t cus it’s so damn boring now .

Doing some rough tablecloth math you’re gonna get 1-2 essences a week from just sort of “checking in” on an alt character. If you actively play it, as you would if you were trying to gear it through the raid, visions or mythic plus, then closer to 5-6. That’s a full spec done in a week, and you don’t have to visit nazjatar or mechagon for any of it.
How is that not a win?

you’re assuming alot here not everyone will be doing every single chore on the list and not burn themselves out of the game in like week 2 on more than 1-2 alts.
aside that you’re already counting that people will be taken into every single said content easily…

People just want it instantly, not realizing that you’ll practically be gaining them for just doing a rudimentary gearing path for your alts.

This new currency and new grind would have been completely ok imo if it was implemented at launch of 8.3 instead of now.
If I’d say something positive, “its better than nothing” or “better late then never”.
The “point” would be if this currency was actually account wide, I have nothing else to get from essences aside getting lucky from chests on visions and maybe 1 week or 2 for r3 focus but again this isnt exactly a catch up system it’s an option for people that wish to re grind 8.3 from zero.

if you even considered playing an alt it meant you had to gear it this is just saying hey do what you want let us take care of essences in a new way.

Going to beat a dead horse with this.
The Battleground Honor essence should be cross role. It already requires no extra work to obtain it cross role IF your character has those roles to learn them on, giving an unfair advantage to people that ground it out on toons that can fill multiple roles.

I see it more as “You get the rewards from that 8.2 content you didn’t want to do, but you get them from gearing and playing your character.”
I cannot fathom how there is possibly anything wrong with that. You’ll have your BIS essences for one spec before you’re even 450.

If you just do emissaries and the assaults you are guaranteed a rank 3 for the week, if you actively play your alt you can get multiple a day. And yet ppl still complain. Just be honest, you don’t want to play you just want to complain.

i got blood of the enemy on this spec and was able to buy off spec essences for marks of honor
