My biggest takeaway from this, and I hope I’m interpreting you correctly is something that I’ve really been slightly turned off about with the game all the way back from mop till now, is that daily activities hold up almost as much precedence if not more than weekly activities. I’d personally prefer it as well if ALL of our activities would be on a weekly basis that way we weren’t so punished if we have a hectic work schedule one day and a light one the next or if our kids have extra-curricular activities and diminishes our time one day yet we have a day off and can catch all that up. That’s probably my biggest gripe with the game. I’m all about daily activities for a slight edge on things like ap or even rep if you’re trying to get a mount or something of that nature, but missing a day back when we were grinding out Lucid Dreams or mechagon rep felt brutal. People can give 8.3 all the flack in the world but the only daily I felt punished by missing was the lesser visions, and after the increased vision gains from other sources and the fact that once a week it gives twice as much, it didn’t feel nearly as punishing. I could deal with that play style of having a biweekly event and then some weekly content.

You miss a frost badge one day, that’s it, you’re behind forever GG. Of course eventually you’ll catch up to everyone else, there’s no endlessly increasing gear system but no one likes to be behind their buddies.
so either way it’s still a grind. doesn’t seem to help if i roll an alt of a different role either? if i only have dps essences i won’t have anything for healer or tank?
it’s a joke they also said a +10 rewards 30 echoes (as if any of the alts could get there easily without being carried)
I feel like that should have always been known since the original account wide essences announcement. They said if you unlocked an essence on one character you’d be able to use it on another. They never mentioned anything about like an essence vendor or anything.

Account wide essences I feel should have always been a thing.
The problem was exacerbated by the fact that some of them are just miserable to obtain (even the first time). Like a month of straight dailies, or weeks of pvp, etc.
If the initial acquisition wasn’t so unreasonable (such as focusing iris), then it might not have been so frustrating to do it multiple times around.
However we are where we are.
I still think it is a mistake not to do another pass on some of those offenders I listed that still require quite a few weeks of monotonous work.
A month’s worth of nazjatar follower quests certainly isn’t “difficult” and hardly can be considered an “achievement”. Unless you define difficult as any boring and monotonous task you have to do repeatedly.
The whole point is when you logged on to an alt in full heroic BOD gear, you just decided to log off because you had no desire to grind azerite and go back to Nazjatar and Mechagon to farm essences.
That fixes it, but that’s probably unnecessary to time gate it for 4 weeks. Should have just allowed your main to buy them BOA with mementos or gold and send them to alts once you have done a meta (like revered on both factions, cloak to 15 and maybe the full tech tree, idk)
I know the thread is about acquiring a new currency to have easier access to essences on alts, but the only thing I’m taking away from this conversation is this.
Sounds a lot like Pathfinder 2.0.
They already said SLs has 2 part pathfinder again

yeah I did read that and I think if it starts like that from time 0 I can handle it but we’re at the end of the expansion already another grind of the same patch because they canceled 8.3.5 and they are moving to the next expansion is just crap.
Get off your horse, that wasn’t a complaint about pathfinder.
Would like to point out a couple things. This week is time walking week so getting good starter gear wont be the issue. After that emissaries and such still scale with your ilevel. No one is making you do the war campaign and AP will come naturally with current content if you REALLY don’t wanna do the unlock. So like this system isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be for alts.

I couldnt think that they would even gate the amount of echoes you would get per week… aside that the currency WONT BE ACCOUNT WIDE.

Like you can mention something and they are so used to fighting about it that they just go on the defensive instantly, I’m sure that’s a medical condition.
Umm, for most things they are weekly?
For 8.3 content
Biggest impact - black empire assault (weekly)
Next biggest - lesser assault (bi-weekly6
Next biggest - lesser vision (daily, but very fast)
Worst - dailies.
For AP the big things were islands (weekly) and emissaries (3 day window).
For mythic+ and PvP it’s the weekly cache.
Raids are on a weekly lockout.
Here’s the reality of it all .
They place this crap in the game to keep people playing. It’s a false sense of progression . Everything in this game is tailored to keep people playing.
You’ll still need to obtain all rank 3’s on one toon just to unlock them all for alts , so it’s still a grind . I hate Nazjatar and having to level up these stupid fish goblins just to obtain a essence .
This change is worthless at this point in time . Too little too late again Blizzard.
I’m gonna guess the most popular essence this week will be lucid.
Think of all the fire mages that are up and coming
i mean honestly if you don’t have one toon with most essences at rank 3 or higher than you have bigger concerns on your plate than alts right now(its like are you even playing)
Lets not forget that alts has no access to the visions research either, they dont have mementos… so they are even more behind on visions and they kinda expect people to get things done?
Clearly this isnt a catch up system but more of a “you can re grind 8.3 from scratch here”
