People just eat this up. A “compromise” for hours and hours of your time.
This would have been a “compromise” 5-6 months ago, and having to farm for the currency would have been awesome (again, 5-6 months ago).
Now that the xpac is pretty much over, just putting a price of like 500g an essence would have been a much better idea. Heck, I’d unlock them all, let people play and see what they vibe with for Shadowlands.
But introducing more grinding(dosn’t matter that its an hour per essence as some people said when its an hour ADDED to HOURS of grinding that are already there for ALTS) to an already insanely grindy xpac is pretty insulting. I’m just shocked how the WoW community never changes and keeps on taking this type of stuff.
Really unfortunate because all of my Rank 3’s are on my currently inactive license. I missed out on currency and I can’t take advantage of the new system.
This is how the game has always worked. Whenever they’ve added a new collection tab, whether that’s heirlooms, transmogs, or achievements. You’ve had to log into any character whose earned them so the system can add whatever you’ve collected to the list.
What in the actual hell is going on. OK FIRST off the OP says it’s a display bug with the emissaries. OK Fine. I log onto my DH alt and do the middle day emissary, that doesn’t drop the currency. Fine, most not be retroactive. I do the Arokan Emmisary, nothing. I go to the Chamber of Heart, again, nothing. I log on my OLD MAIN, Oh hey look, MOTHER has stuff for sale! Did I mention the currency shows up for the emissary on that toon but not my alt? WTF
There is just as much discontent with FF as there is with WoW, the main subreddit mods just remove a lot of it.
There’s a secondary subreddit where people go to complain about the game, and the main subreddit.
Funny thing is, almost all discontent with either game is expressed outside the game, go into the game and everyone is having a great time in both games.
That has nothing to do with what was being said. The complaint was having to log into a character so the system could see an essence had been earned. This is how the game has always functioned.
Yes, because getting screwed out of a weeks worth of chests with no heads up that it was going to behave in that manner really screwed the one alt I wanted essences for out of them.
They better give us the currency for activity on alts we completed but didn’t get anything or I’ll straight up quit. If they sit there and go “lol too bad try again next week, it was bugged” I’m out.
Essences have existed for almost a year now and nothing about their implementation has changed other than the addition of a currency with an unnecessary restriction on its eligibility, which isn’t tied to essences themselves.
Also, essences have plenty of roots dug into the Achievement system, both on the character and account-wide level. I’d be surprised if they legitimately did not have data somewhere that they could be tracking without the need for logging in.
There’s not really any reason why this requirement was not communicated to us, or why the restriction exists in the first place. There’s no reason why a character that doesn’t have a need for the currency today isn’t eligible to get it when they might need it tomorrow, regardless of whether or not it could have been tracked.
Why do we have to log in to characters to GET the currency? It shoudl be rewarded to anyone who opens a chest. Maybe I won’t see what all I can buy off of Mother before I log into my toons but I should GET currency regardless. The fact that my first toon I logged into lost out on my `5 M+ (300 echoes) and whatever I would have got out of my pvp chest is super crappy.
