It’s pretty sad that Blizzard has been unable to release ANY system this expansion without a collossal screw up, bugged, RNG infested mess.
People complain they want essences account wide. Blizzard gives a great compromise and has you do something basic to earn this currency which is way more than fair. Yet people still cry and want everything auto unlocked and given to them for doing nothing.
Maybe Blizzard should stop all gear, and things like essences etc. and just have people go to a website and select the gear they want which has all BiS gear and essences or future things like that and then it will be sent to their in-game email.
Some people near MOTHER were not able to see the vendor option and only had the cleanse corruption option.
After inspecting them, they had rank 12 cloak, so that character seem progressed enough.
I check on my priest that has a rank 1 cloak and barely did the minimum and was able to see the vendor.
So it seems buggy.
People need to calm down and let this get worked out.
Or maybe they should stop stacking huge time-gated power progression systems on top of each other that won’t last more than half an expansion’s lifetime.
Especially if they’re going to deliberately ignore mountains of feedback for months and then trip over themselves trying to implement fixes in response to that feedback long after the systems go live.
Or maybe you should create your own mmo and let us know how it goes with no time gates, rng, etc. and trying to maintain keeping people playing. Sounds like you have no idea how mmos work and how hard it is to keep people playing.
But this ISN’T a “great” compromise at all, and it’s NOT auto unlocked, they worked hard to unlock those essences, through reputations, weekly grinding of raids, M+ etc. - on another character(sometimes multiple characters).
So pretending or acting like people want free things is why everyone is annoyed by blizzard. This is something they worked for, sunk in MANY hours into and after all the grinding we could have used a good gesture from Blizzard.
Second part of your post is just troll, not sure why people make such statements.
It has everything to do, it’s a new currency for a new system.
History was enough of a guide for me to understand I’d need to log into any characters I had r3 essences on. Heirlooms had been in the game for 8 years, in order for the system to see all the heirlooms we’d already collected we had to log into the characters that had those heirlooms. Many of the appearances for the transmog system had been in the game for 15 years, and once again in order for the system to see what we’ve collected, we had to log into each character first.
You clearly don’t play any other MMORPG besides WoW if you believe that to be true.
It actually is. OH NOES. You have to play the game and do the assaults or M+ etc. which people already do on their alts. It is sooo easy to obtain the currency it isn’t even funny. I think WoW might not be the game for you anymore if you think this.
Get out of this thread with your BS or I will use all 400 alts.
Yep. Played almost all the mainstream ones and all of them are meh and very low pop. You seem to not understand how mmos work. SWTOR. solo mmo where you can rush through the content in hours than wait months for new ones. GW2 HUGE grind for stuff. The list goes on.
Am i missing something? on Alts, you will still have to go get the level 1 and 2 essences, its just the level three of essences that now has an alternate means of obtainment.
For me the un-fun, boring, and repetitive part was having to get the essence aat all. With how fast the Neck now levels up, I have open essence slots and nothing to put in them on my alts. I was hoping this change would fix that.
the update isnt working for me my weekly chest gave no currency and mother has no essence for sell…
Blizzard clearly didnt listen to the community, They just added more grinding for the same result when it should have been account bound from the start. If they do not change this in shadowlands then the games doomed
???
Seriously?
It even says in the OP:
Is it not wrong to think that when I go to do the Arokan Emmisary that despite it not showing Echoes as a reward that I would be…you know… REWARDED for it?
After all, this toon has at least 1 rank 3 essence anyways so what gives? I should have gotten the currency but I didn’t. There was absolutely ZERO way of predicting this.
You are misunderstanding, yeah. If a character has a rank 3 essence that your alt doesn’t have, you can straight up buy that rank 3 essence on your alt.
No need to get rank 1 or 2 beforehand.
What I hope Blizzard takes away from this is that there are too many ways characters gain power right now.
Once upon a time, it was all about gear. Gear determined your power level. Your alts could acquire gear faster with the help of being run through content by friends, or crafts, or buying it off the auction house. There was a cost, but it could be done quickly.
Then, artifact power was added. It came with a catch-up mechanic, but you still had to do things yourself. You would catch up reasonably quickly so that you weren’t that far behind, but it was another avenue you had to persue.
Now we have three ways. Gear, AP, and essences. Gear is arguably both easier and harder to get than before. AP remains something where you have to play per character. And essences, until now, have required the same path on every character.
While these changes make this third path shorter and simpler, I would hope Blizzard realizes that the root problem is that alts have so many paths they need to accomplish all at once when they hit max level. There is a HUGE amount of room here for professions to be able to provide catchup mechanics that they currently don’t, especially if the number of ways a character gains power gets reduced.
Nice for all the people that have played from 8.2 onward, but sucks for people that just returned. These essence grinds are so off putting when you consider everything else you have to do. Essences arent goals, they are mandatory power spikes you have to have to be competitive.
