With hotfixes that are now live, we have reinforced the measures taken to prevent players from obtaining information about their potential PvP opponents in advance of a battleground. This is applicable to all rated battlegrounds, unrated battlegrounds, rated brawls, and unrated brawls.
As a reminder, we regularly take action against accounts using third-party software that is found to be in violation of the Blizzard End User License Agreement.
But how does this effect the actual problem plaguing pvp, premade teams stomping pugs for free honor/conquest 24/7/365?
It just sounds like premades might have a small chance of facing other premades now, which dilutes their efforts slightly but doesn’t really stop the plague.
For those of us not fully up to date on the PVP happenings, can somebody drop the lore on what his means and why its being put in place. You can use the gnome dolls if you think it’ll help.
The only thing that pops in my mind right away is Battleground Enemies though that shows players names before hand. Not really 100% sure what this is combating. Wish it gave a little more info.
You can look at the scoreboard beforehand too and see who you are fighting but i doubt its that. If the hotfix is live, i guess someone could see right now.
By the sounds of it, people are getting info before even joining the match
Yeah true, they don’t seem to be addressing the ability to que with friendlies, based on wording.
But another thing those premade groups were doing was dodging other premade groups to bully randoms that weren’t premades. This might be a step towards fixing all of it.
You can’t see the opposing team on the scoreboard in the staging area. The opponents do appear on the scoreboard as soon as the gates open.
Everyone just leaves after the first lopsided skirmish anyway, so I don’t see what was accomplished by these changes. Bad matchmaking is still bad, even if it’s now hidden.
Let’s hope, because it’s the same issue that Blizzard seem to be trying to fix (dodging premades and creating 10-40 man premades that shouldn’t be able to be created using third party software).
the way i interpret this is no more spying and queue monitoring, premade communities use spy toons and addons to monitor the queues of other premade communities, some do it to pugstomp and avoid facing other premades while others do it specifically to hunt other premades and create a premade vs premade match.
if they prevent this sort of spying then sync groups will no longer be dropping queues in order to target/avoid other teams, meaning there should be less games where you start with only 10 players vs 40.
community flare details (and clones) is the addon in question here, but it could also be they don’t want you sending in scout toons as well. my guess is that the hotfix will kill CFDetails while the TOS/SC will be used against people scouting.
