Observations from leading AV for Alliance in the past 2 weeks

Good luck trying to get to SHGY from SPGY.

Issue is the horde don’t care about dying, it doesn’t impact them at all, they can send all 40 people to their first objective SHGY. If they die they just Rez at IBGY.

Let’s look at the same equal objective for Alliance, IBGY, the alliance who die there after SHGY is taken before IBGY caps Rez at SPGY now, they will never make it back south.

Even trading SHGY for IBGY, look at what happens, horde die retaking IBGY, it doesn’t matter at all, they don’t Rez at FWGY or by Drek they literally Rez 20 seconds away 20 at a time. If the Alliance die waiting for IBGY to cap after we traded SHGY for it, it actually matters, we get sent to SPGY, meanwhile horde don’t care if they die, they just 20 seconds away, how hard is it really to retake IBGY with those odds?

These strats of people saying well ally just stay at SHGY, ofc if we lose it we literally lost the game, there is no recourse for losing it. Meanwhile horde don’t need to defend IBGY at ALL. Worst case they lose it to trade for SHGY them just go recap it since we can’t out reinforce them rezing from their cave GY.

This sounds far more legit than everyone else trying to talk about graveyards and map. The ones that discuss graveyards don’t even mention the objectives. Why? Because only in a PvP Alterac Valley where players are facing many players does the graveyard locations matter. In the game where both sides don’t face each other, the objectives matter more so than anything else.

The primary reason Alliance lose Alterac Valley is because they are so focused on defending SH GY at the start. If the Horde did that with IB GY the Horde would probably have about a 15 to 20% win rate also.

In order to win the battle you must take out objectives not wait for the other side
to defend your last graveyard. There is no guide online for Alterac Valley in WoW Classic that tells you to do that. Do what the guides tell you and you will enjoy about a 50% win rate. Otherwise keep doing what you’re doing Alliance and lose more battles.

Alliance does it because the encounter starts there because you guys get to cover the entire field of strife by the time we get there and if alliance loses SHGY it’s GG for alliance because you get caught behind a chokepoint.

Not impossible, but its improbable due to the map being very much stacked in favor of the horde.

I’m being serious. Alliance team just sits at SH GY every game. We can hold IBGY and SF GY with 1 person each. Usually 0.

Everytime I did AV we attacked IBGY and just eventually lost it.

Last couple weeks of doing AV. I can start taking screenshots I guess?

I mean the issues with the map are still big issues.

Down playing it doesn’t make it any better.

Yeah and I’m pretty sure we’ve all agreed that horde get an advantage at IBGY. But it’s actually impossible for alliance to win, no matter what the map is like, if they never leave SH GY. And Horde aren’t the only ones in here talking about this. You’ve got a few alliance that have come in and mentioned that Allies just sit at SH GY and rep farm til they lose. There are multiple ways to deal with the midfield game. None are perfect. But they’re all better than sitting at SH and then coming to the forums to complain.

The advantage at IBGY is why they can’t leave typically like I outlined in my above post.

If it gets taken in 5m into the AV the game is over.

We are basically trapped at SHGY because all horde need to do is send 40 into SHGY over and over, I’m not sure how you don’t see that??

I’m a horde reroll, I played all versions of AV in Classic. There is a massive difference in that map.

It’s pretty clear playing it from both sides.

Keep on believing that and you’ll continue to lose a lot more than you win. Or pay attention to guides online that describe how to win Alterac Valley. Your choice.

It’s not, although it makes for a good story. If you go for Galv you either get wiped on the way or at him. It’s the worst type of rush because even if you succeed you don’t have a forward GY to rez at.

Is Galv nice to take? Sure, he’s great for rep and honor and it does stop a buff for the horde. However, he’s too difficult to take right off the bat. Anyone rushing him is going for a short-term kill rather than a long-term win.

But people would push for him anyways because they wanted that rep and honor at the expense of everything else. If they killed him and lost quickly they were very happy. It’s not a winning strat.

On the other hand sitting at SH is not a winning strat either. It’s just what happens if you don’t manage to rush through the turtle and take another GY. The problem is that doing any rush is a risk and not as effective as the safe strat of turtling which works for the horde because of starting position.

So all the alliance need to do according to your video…

Get a geared and coordinated enough group that they can wipe the hode Def 5+ times with next to no losses, while on a map in which most of the horde have decided to race. (if you notice he opens the map and the horde control the northern GYs while the Allies control the south ones)

So basically alliance can only win if the horde decide to race and then the alliance happen to be much better geared than that horde group.

If on the other hand you have a horde group who decide to defend the alliance lose, your video had them take and hold IBGY with 0 attacks by the horde, and you are posting it like look alliance can win.

That video had some of the worst horde play I have ever seen.

If horde play correctly and are not massively out-geared Alliance cannot win on this map, which is why the map was changed.

The reason Alliance win is if they rush past the Horde advantages and the Horde decide to NOT capitalize on those defenses, which is what was happening the first week where horde were taking more honor and rep with fast losses than trying to win, cause they still won a decent number of games even with those high honor+rep fast games.

You must be a troll, no reasonable person can deny reality that hard.

Yep, if the horde decide to race then it becomes a 50-50 matchup of who can race the fastest. Either way the game is over in 15 mins and both sides get rep and honor a lot faster than the current turtles.

So basically it sounds nice because it fits your incorrect preconceptions, and stuff all those people who use numbers and proper analysis to show why the Horde win, it cant be because of actual reasons no Horde is just better and they know more and the alliance are just bad and know less.

Which is actually hillarious that you think you know more than people who have done detailed strategic analysis of the entire map showing the problem and
then broken it down into simple terms, and those terms are still too complicated for you by your own admission… however alliance lose cause they don’t know things and horde win cause they do.

Do you even listen to yourself?

This is the problem. You’re still thinking in terms of GY control over the entire map. The GYs to be concerned about at the start of the game are the forward ones not your last one. The ones that you need to be taking. Your objectives also which are the towers and Galv.

If you want a PvP battle then the goal is to control as many GYs as you can. But that’s not how you win the game. You win the game by completing objectives and killing the end boss right? So why be so focused on the GYs and in particular your last one to defend? You should be focused on getting the towers down, getting IBGY capped. Not defending your last GY and keep on talking about how the map is and how the GYs are positioned. It’s NOT GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL PATCH 2.4! Blizzard is not going to change it. So try to win the game. Instead of trying to win, you’ll focused and bent out of shape on the GYs and their position on the map.
