Now Available: World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King®–A Pandemic System Board Game

The thing that really gets my goat about the folks feigning outrage is that, looking at the actual game, it looks it’s called “A Pandemic System Game” because it’s being done by the makers of Pandemic, and uses Pandemic’s gameplay structure, not that the actual game revolves around a pandemic outside of, you know, the Scourge, which was inspired by concepts and plagues that predate COVID-19 by anywhere between two to three-hundred decades.

And even then, likening a pandemic to a fantasy zombie outbreak seems rather farcical.

As someone who worked with Covid patients the past year, and who had a relative die. no, it is not “brutal”.

All you are doing is trying to make drama, where there is none.

Actually - did you see Corona fall flat on their face trying to make light of COVID when it hit? Notice how that marketing never manifested beyond a tweet?

Do you think someone should be shamed for drinking a beer with a name that has something in common with something else.

Do you think Beer = Lethal virus sharing same name

Or

Game about lethal virus pandemic = Real life lethal virus pandemic.

Which pair do you think have more in common - that being said it strikes me as a marketing gimmick - which might just be poorly timed (and may be because of shadowlands digging into DK lore) I do not think the citing and game modelling choice was a wise idea though and again - given the timing it means we were likely all locked down when someone hatched this idea.

Then why use the title let people find out who the makers is not use it as a title for a game gg we have bad enough problem with covid to have a title like that come on now.

Forgive me for not taking your internet credentials to heart.

That said - I am stating a opinion…am I still allowed those in a public forum?

LOL some of these comments. Ya’ll need to relax.

Pandemic is a really fun board game, this looks like it could be good.

umm is this company
trying to capitalize on… a pandemic where … people died.
blizzard doesn’t care about real life people it seems…

That’s actually a good point

It could be that its simply a battlefield management game - or it could be a scourge plague. Given how few probably know what the Pandemic game system is however it seems a poor choice of words in advertising.

Look up one of my other mains, Lightmuffin. Pretty sure I mentioned on that toon, on the forums, I worked with Covid patients.

And crying wolf, and then refusing to believe people who actually went through what you are crying about, is just drama mongering.

Is the a Yogg Saron piece?

Ah, good ol’ Wrath of the Lich King. A time when Sylvanas’ story hadn’t yet been destroyed.

The game that literally no one asked for.

Feel free to PM me your credentials - otherwise your just farming for authority. Some folks have actually lost loved ones to COVID and I think the timing is bad. Care to address the rest of my post?

I am curious if blizzard spent money to produce it or if its just a cross licensing deal - figure merch is the last thing blizzard should be spending money on right now :stuck_out_tongue:

Pandemic board game has been around since 2008

Did you both get riled up in 2008 when this game was first announced for mocking the Spanish Flu? Or did you not care then?

Neat don’t buy it then.

Like it or no, that’s how branding works.

The makers of Pandemic made a deal to make a WoW game based on Pandemic’s ruleset, they’re going to include something indicating this in the title because they want to make the game appeal to existing fans of Pandemic in addition to fans of Warcraft. That makes the game appeal to a wider audience and potentially generate more sales.

It’s like how Small World’s WoW tie-in was called “Small World of Warcraft” and not “World of Warcraft: The Battle for Azeroth Board Game,” or how the various versions of Monopoly out there are called things like “Sonic Monopoly” and not like, “Sonic the Hedgehog: Mobius Capitalism” or something.

I’m sure the 5 people who still play board games are ecstatic.

Ahh the outrage and trolls in this thread. Nothing new here.
