Wasn’t locked in my house for a year when Spanish flu hit - there was a bit of different impact from COVID. I think the point being missed is that COVID is on the tip of everyone’s tongue - so bringing up even just the term pandemic will likely get noticed; which is good advertising.
My opinion (and it is just a opinion - not calling for cancellation or any dumb stuff like that) is that it is just effective marketing for the timing of it and the way it has been worded to get noticed. Its kind of like advertising your lawn care company to mourners as a funeral.

Most likely they were already in talks to make this game before the pandemic even hit. These things are like “we talked about it and released it the next day”
They probably even held off releasing it through the worst of it.

Meh - I don’t really want another remake of Pandemic. Pandemic is a fun board-game, but there are enough already. The base game is fine. The Legacy game is better (OMG Pandemic Legacy is crazy! But I can’t post any spoilers).
This just looks like Chtulu Pandemic with different figures, and a higher price.
Pandemic (original) $45
Pandemic Chtulu $50
Pandemic WoW $60 (why?)
(now please fix battlegrounds item level issues)
Folks who have pandemic said it released at 60 bucks. New games are always more expensive and 60 is pretty tame compared to some.
