Most things are consumer-driven. I don’t think anyone disputes that FOMO is a consumer phenomena, only that companies instigate it. Both things can be true.
But in any case, not entirely sure what this has to do with your comment on people “stampeding.” That’s what I was more or less referring to.

Sure, but FOMO manifests in different ways. You’ve described one way of it manifesting. There’s an entire subsect of psychology on the topic of FOMO.

Even if I would spend that much, why would I when I am not getting any value from my sub ATM. They pushed the goal post in M+ so far back from where it was years past. Most all my RLF quit. When they are hard stuck after 4-5 week in progression. So I don’t need anything from the cash shop, as I will be pausing my sub after this 20 year event. (Have 2 years paid from gifts) I also will not be pursuing any blizzard games. No D4 upgrade no CoD no new Xpacks. They have proved at anytime they might make it unfun or unplayable.
