If you eat it fast enough it’s not too bad though

Manipulation is the intent behind marketing, you crooked flamingo.

Marketing is to make the product enticing, you wet cabbage.

And what, pray tell, is the reason they wish to make the product enticing, you empty box of rocks?

Victim blaming, when someone escapes an infamous cult do you blame them for being vulnerable or do you blame the Cult who exploited their vulnerability?

Is the same reason everyone wishes to make what they sell enticing, so people will buy it.

That’s not manipulation, you dopey sock.

Entirely too much joviality in the last few posts. That must STAAHP! NAOW!

THESE FORUMZ ARE FOR SERIOUS BIZNESS ONLY! =)

In other words, to manipulate – to influence or direct – people into buying it.
I rest my case.

Advertising and sales are not FOMO.

Something going on sale will likely go on sale in the future. You haven’t missed out on an opportunity to buy something at a discounted price if you missed the sale window, nor is that product being taken off the market, making it impossible for you to purchase it at all.

The concept of FOMO is simple: Is it available right now? Will it be available down the road?

If the answers to those questions are “Yes” and “No,” respectively, then it’s FOMO. That’s especially true when the product in question is artificially made available for a limited time. It’s not like Blizzard will run out of Brutosaur mounts if they kept it permanently on the shop. Their decision to take it off is them playing into player psychology, impressing upon them that they may miss out (hence, FOMO) on obtaining a collector’s item.

It’s not a Cult when you sell something you had no earthly idea would be popular until one adult socks another adult in the mouth for one.

This worgen did a good job roleplaying a troll that got the entire thread swap on from blaming blizzard to denying the existance of FOMO and other wild things.

Good bait tho.

You’ve gone too far.:smiling_face_with_tear:

Why am I sensing you were either present for, or involved directly IN a 'cabbage patch debacle" and on the receiving end of that “sock in the mouth”? =)

Didn’t deny FOMO existed, just that FOMO is self-inflicted, like most things.

Ouch! This is really messing with the game economy. No tokens available on AH, so bad luck to anyone who was counting on buying one to extend their game sub. Someone really did their maths - It seems like Microsoft wins every which way on this.

You better be joking. This is the stuff that makes people unsub. Mounts are $25. Get real really fast.

You already screwed up the event and now are just trying for a cash grab.

It’s an unmitigated success unfortunately lol

The reason why I know none of the people know what FOMO is that I was some of the unfortunate retail associates that had hold people back when certain video game consoles were launching.

When you blatantly tell people you have only 200 units of them and STATE THAT IN THE ADVERTISEMENT, and the people show up @ 3 in the morning with TENTS for the sale next day; they still fight each other in the parking lot.

Do not try to spoon feed me this nonsense about FOMO being some corporate puppeteering when people are stupid enough to do it themselves.

That wasn’t the point.

“Exploitation of the vulnerable” considering you couldn’t understand a more sadly normalised form I used a more extreme form but seems not even that works.
