was away from BFA for the middle of it because of life concerns, came back and finished off part 2, the moment I could fly it was like I could breathe again. It’s a real “why the fff do they make us do this?”.
I’m outright dreading another pathfinder, as it is implemented today. As it’s implemented today. I mean, like most or many people, I don’t have a big complaint about playing the game on the ground one time through. Fine, whatever. But that massive extra-long extended unlock delay is just so freaking painful. Flying isn’t allowed until the expansion is just about over.
I had a similar life issue during WoD, I missed most of it. I couldn’t play it at all actually until the latter half of the expansion. I didn’t experience any of the drama surrounding this issue because I rejoined the game pretty much right when flying was enabled, by total chance. Playing that way, being able to unlock flying right as I completed those achievements, it was great. I straight up loved WoD and had an awesome time. I was able to run my main char through and then develop some alts for the fun of it.
Unfortunately though WoD crushed my old guild, and nearly crushed my current one. When I investigated why the story I heard was that they finished up raiding early (actually another WoD issue, seemed to be missing a raid) and after that they were basically too exhausted to hold it together and do anything else. A few die-hards kicked around and made alts while locked to the ground but the bulk of the people couldn’t take it. Whatever WoDs issues were, I can definitely tell you I had a different experience playing that xpac. A good experience, very good … and being able to fly and effectively play alts was a big part of that.
anyway, I guess I’m just hoping it’s different this time. Maybe pathfinder without the extended unlock delay. Or maybe even something different, like you play through once and flying is unlocked on that char and only one other who is like deputized or something. Something creative, not this binary thinking bullcrap.
Agreed.
Just do what I do…go play MoP content and tell them to stuff Pathfinder.
eventually the investors are going to want to know why we’re AVOIDING NEW content and blizzard will have to change something…or reverse some STUPID decisions theyve made in the past.
honestly I have never had a problem with it, it seems easy enough that I generally get it with out grinding but just playing the game. The problem I see with it is with someone who started late. Then it feels like dog poopoo.
WQ’s are horrible in this game. Easily the worst part of WoW, by a lot. To try and make people feel bad for not wanting play the worst part of wow is pretty stupid. FFXIV handles it a million times better.
There is that aspect.
But my issue with PF is it DESTROYED MY game.
I dont like running every stinking part of a questline or the reputation crap. Up thru MOP I could play this game as I ENJOYED playing it…which keeps me playing upwards of 10 hours in a day when I have no ‘work’ to do on my websites or any of my clients.
I chose THIS game for the open ended world that WASNT pulling me thru a maze by the cheese on the string like a brain dead rat.
And then I hit WoD and MY game was all over.
If I wanted flight…yup…I may as well go play the 90s Eye of the beholder, run thru the dungeon precisely as instructed.
I QUIT games like that for a reason.
And well…its why I dont play current content much at all.
when blizzard decides to stop being control freaks with current content at some point, maybe ill be there every day instead of in Pandaria farming raids.
You complete the story in the zone, as you complete the story for the zone you pass by aether currents that you find in the zone. After completing the story in the zone, if you have all the nodes collected, you unlock flying for that zone.
Ok I’m gunna correct you here. It’s blizzards game. It’s not yours. Buying a copy grants you access to their game. It doesn’t become yours. Your characters are their property they essentially rent you.
It can’t have ruined your game when it is and never has been your game
I remember reading about some guy who retired at bliz, a game designer. Don’t remember the name, but he sort of broke down the differnt quest types and was trying to discern what was “fun”. One thing he came up with very clearly is that anything done too many times becomes “not fun” really quickly. There has to be a mix. Like too many “gather X items” or too many “find this in a dungeon”, etc. There has to be a healthy mix.
I don’t think WQ are necessarily bad, but they have become the crux for too many things. Items, mission table resources, gold, reputation, etc. If they had made rep tabards where you could get incremental rep from killing stuff (maybe only in dungeon runs) then it would give people an alternate path. More alternate paths would take the pressure off WQ, and let them be a little more fun.
(but as interesting as that is, pathfinder)
neat! see, another creative idea that’s not binary. but it might be weird as you go crashing to the ground at the zone lines, but they could glider that.
So still a newb in ff14 compared to wow. Just hit max level there last week.
But my understanding is you need to attune yourself with the flows of some energy. You do this 2 ways;
in each zone there are nodes you need to attune yourself with (click on)
you get a compass that tells you roughly where they all are.
a few of these can only be acquired through quests in that area.
You need to attune yourself with all the nodes, once you do you have flying in that area.
So flying isn’t timegated you just need to collect all the nodes. then boom flying.
Any more experienced ff14 ppl correct me if im wrong.
For all your forum posturing pathfinder will remain. So continue complaining. It hasn’t change the game. It won’t change. Your complaining will get you nowhere.
That is what is so amusing to me.
Blizzard clearly likes pathfinder. I enjoy not flying instantly. At the start of the 2nd major content patch in an expansion is a good spot for it. I mean they could always make it the 3rd major patch like they did in WOD.
Or they can use war as a way to prevent flying. “War is breaking out in this zone and they are aiming at everything in the sky, until you complete X mission, flying doesnt look like an option”, take sever damage in the sky and you will land pretty quick.
The WQ’s are cute for a while. But then its like I want to pluck my own eyes out if I have to see them one more time.
If theyre going to do WQ’s they need like a THOUSAND of them for the rotation so we never see the same one more than a time or two.
I don’t know how they could replace WQs though, outside of doing what GW2 does and creating map-meta events (which I would actually LOVE). Maybe participating in x-number of phases earns you your credit?
heh…yeah…except they changed northrend AND mop flight requirements now didnt they
So you arent the authority on what will and wont happen with enough of our complaining about PF
