I don’t mind having to unlock flying in a different way than just paying for it and that it’s an account wide achievement is great! But I do think the wait to unlock it is too long. I wish it was something we could grind out as much as we please from day one. That would be nice and it is more motivating to want to play the next expansion right away.
Currently I get a better experience waiting to play the expansion a year later, just like your experience in WoD. I really haven’t felt as motivated to keep around at the beginning of the last couple of expansions because they are less rewarding to do so than just coming in late.

and northrend had the same flight requirements, as did MoP, for some time…and THEN they were lightened up dramatically.

You got it right. Aether currents out in the open world, aether currents from certain quests. I prefer their flight unlock system to WoW’s–it unlocks as you progress.
Though it also only unlocks a zone at a time…not sure how much I like that. It works for FFXIV, but that is a game made up of actual separate zones.
Maybe the WoW equivalent would be to unlock flight with the completion of each or all zones…no dailies, no rep. I’d be into it. Zandalar complete, flight in Zandalar available!

My point is that since day 1 blizzard model has been “do x get x”. The game is a grind. It’s been 15 years of it. You should switch to ARPGs I’d all you want is instant gratification

To be fair, many things have been changed from complaining and asking for something new in WoW. Even things that blizzard says won’t happen.

Some grinds are worse than chewing rat feces…some people will eat anything with a smile while others wont.

I wasnt gong to buy it, but I didwant to boost a new shaman on each side, so it worked out that the expansion cost with a boost was the same price as a boost, so my $$$ spent were exactly the same…kinda like getting the next crappy expansion for free.
I wanted 120 shamans to run old raids for mogs since I didnt have any high level shamans and Im lazy.

I think every day, someone should make a new pathfinder thread for Apoth. We can keep our temp bans minimized with a rotation.

I wouldn’t pay attention to that Apoth person, they seem to be in every flight thread telling people they are reporting the thread, very cringey.
I think he/she just does it for attention, to get post count up or to annoy people.
We don’t need a person coming in threads telling people they’re going to report it, if you’re going to report then just go do it, no need to make a post about it.

Umm, you just described pathfinder. You do it once and all your alts benefit from it immediately. It’s much better than what you are describing.

For all your forum posturing the people that dislike pathfinder will remain and so will their posts. So continue complaining. It won’t change. Your complaining will get you nowhere.
That is what is so amusing to me.
Players clearly do not like pathfinder. Very few are asking for instant flight. Many just do not want to wait a year for it.

They make you do it because they do not believe that the game is best experienced when you fly.
Much of the content, art, and zone architecture is easily missed and what little danger there is is easily circumvented.
This isnt good for an mmorpg and they came to realize that when half of the world content of wod was related to exploration via treasures.
Pathfinder now represents the time they are willing to nerf said content, and demonstrates you have done enough of it to now be able to fly once its out.
This expansion’s was the easiest that has been present and flying has not gotten any more valuable.
Its just travel. You cant fight on a mount or do any actual content on a mount. Its not even always the fastest way to get around now with the whistle and all the portals.
All you can do is circumvent actually having to learn the paths and how to avoid the seldom danger.
It really worries me that this is this big of an issue for people, and truthfully i feel like if travel is this big of a deal for you in a game with this much instanced value, you might want to think on your expectations for wow moving forward.
Pathfinder isnt going anywhere, and until they find an actual purpose for flying mounts it will always be regarded as a way to nerf world content and leveling, meaning they are in no rush to give it the players.

Factually speaking IF their content werent CRAP and it was COMPELLING…such as the Drustvar witch questline is…then they wouldnt NEED to put the ring in our noses and drag us kicking and screaming thru the lazy garbage that is BFA…and WoD and legion.
